What am I doing wrong?
Im just going to sum all of this up really quick. So far I have had three lucid dreams. Here is what happened:
My first one I tried to fly, but then everything started to fade to black and I continued along with the regular dream.
My second one I decided to spin around really fast, and I thought if I shouted someone's name they would appear. I stopped spinning and they weren't there so I thought that I wasn't really dreaming. Then I woke up and my head was POUNDING for some reason.. (I assume all the spinning)
My third one last night I knew I was dreaming on three instances.. And what I mean by that was every time I realised I was I tried to fly, and when it didn't work I came to the conclusion I wasn't dreaming. I don't really remember the first two (they're in my dream journal allllll the way downstairs) But on my last attempt I tried to fly up and over this thing, and I kinda hovered and got over it but landed on my stomach on the other side. It didn't hurt at all so I thought I was still dreaming, but that quickly changed because I said "if I'm still dreaming, I would have flown.."
So that sucks doesn't it. Anyone have any pointers? Am I trying too much too fast? Are there any easy things I could try just to get the hang of it. What did you do on your first lucid dreams?
Thanks so much :D

I think you may be aiming too high to start. I ran into the same thing with early LDs - I would want to travel to exotic locales or have sex, etc etc. Now, when I realize I am dreaming, I just try to first maintain lucidity. I usually use a verbal command for this. Another technique is to focus attention on objects in the dream. Then, instead of going crazy with trying all the crazy stuff I eventually want to try, I just explore the scene as it already is for a little while. I may then try to alter subtle details, but I try not to go overboard as I am still a beginner.
hope to have helped! hope you have many more LDs (hope I do too :D )
