possible new technique... anyone else ever tried this?

I do a lot of writing, just scribbling things in a big notebook/diary, and a lot of the time, I find myself reading over and over what I've written but in a distracted, distant sort of way. Even though I've been thinking about something else, when I put the notebook down, I find I can remember what I've just been reading. It's like it bypasses my conscious mind and goes straight into my memory.

Now, it occurred to me that it might be possible to use this as an lucid dream induction technique. Sort of similar to MILD, I suppose. What I did was write a big long paragraph of repeated phrases, things like "I will become lucid in my dreams. I will become aware of who I am and where I am. I shall achieve full lucidity." That kind of thing, repeated over and over again. Then, just before I went to bed, I put on some music and read repeatedly over this paragraph, whilst concentrating on the music and not really thinking about the words I was taking in. Then I just went to sleep as normal.

Just before I woke in the morning, I had one of the longest lucid dreams I've had so far. I should point out that I'm still really a beginner, I've only had a handful of LDs to date, and yet the one I had this morning was the second I've had this week! Now, this could be down to the fact that I'm trying to do RCs more regularly, however it could also have something to do with the technique I used, so I thought I'd post it here just in case it might help someone else. I should also add that when I achieved lucidity in the dream, I was aware of something at the back of my mind, something I had to remember, and then suddenly the phrases from the notebook popped into my head and I became lucid.

Maybe it just worked because it's something I've never done before. But I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has ever tried anything like this, and if it's worked?

I've been struggling with LDing (I've only done it once!)
so I think I might try that
sort of like a form of suggestion

I would say yes, this definitely should work to some extent, as it is known that self-suggestion works as an LD inducer. Personally I think self-suggestion is the best LD inducer. I don't think your technique is an "easy" way to induce, but used in combination with other techniques, it should be a pretty good LD inducing technique. I think the main reason it worked is that you were reading it unconciously, letting the sub-conscious do it, which makes it more effective than just jamming an idea into your head by repeating it. I'll definitely try it some time.
