When I was on the swim team we had practice a 1.5 hour on M-T-T-F-S and on the days after practice I would fall into a deeper sleep than usual, I think from the exhaustion of swimming and tring to maintain body temp and possibly the breath holding. We never sat still or anything, and the pool was always very cold. At anyrate my dreams were far more vivid when I was swimming regularly than when not. I am planning on swimming competitivly again this winter, so I can be more scientific about this.

I think it's really a combination of both. In my experience, I've been expirementing with oxygenation vs. not and it's really been helping the nights I have done it. But I think swimming helps a lot as well. As for the type of swimming you did, I tried to do the opposite. I tried to just go underwater and relax, not exerting myself in the least. The water was really cold there as well...But for me exhaustion sends me into a much deeper sleep where it's harder to recall the dreams I have.

yondaime109, I think that this has some major potential. We could run a new thread involving Oxygen Retention and Breathing excercises... This could be a major stepping stone in lucid dreaming! (I hope...)
