Well, what usually works for me is to repeat to myself "I will awaken after I dream, and I will remember the dream" as I'm trying to fall asleep. It doesn't work every time, but most nights this will result in waking up after 4-6 hours, with a fresh dream in my mind. If you've just started trying this, give it some time -- it may take your mind several days or even a couple of weeks to start "listening" to your suggestions.
I've found that saying "I will wake up after each dream period, and I will remember my dream" without internal dialogue seems to help but is difficult for me. The first time I tried it, I woke up at 4am. But once the sun came out I found it harder to go back to sleep. Now for some odd reason I wake up at 2am, could it be my subconsiousness? I read about it in the HILD tutorial but I'm too paranoid to mess around with my subconsiousness
Last night i set my alarm for 4 but i woke up at 3:30 :P anyway i went to the bathroom and layed on my bed for an hour thinking about dreams got a slice of cheese and went back to bed and had 3 lucids in 1 hour
1st: 10 seconds
2nd: 20 minutes
3rd: 30 minutes
Saltcube timer has worked best for me.
whats a saltcube timer?
Saltcube timer is an alarm that runs on your computer (you don't have to get out of bed) . I'm really bad at explaning things, but it's really easy!!! just go to www.saltcube.com. It's free also. I hope it helps.
:)
Hell I don't know, but sometimes if I time it right a very soft alarm will wake me, but if I got it wrong not even cannon fire would wake me. I think it has to do with waking up at the end of a sleep cycle.
On any case, you can only wake up naturally after training yourself to wake at a certain time. Telling yourself to wake up doesn't work. You're going to have to use an alarm...
last nighti set my watch when i did go off i turned it off not concentrating 10 minutes later i looked at my clock thinking my alarm didn't go off when i realised it did i planned out wat im gonna do then fell asleep half an hour later i gave up :(
PS: im not sure i understand this saltcube thing does this mine i have to keep my computer on during the night?
