I visit this site often, and I have recently started a DJ, and I love it here...but one thing bugs me.
In almost every topic about LDs or flying, or creating thing, someone always says stuff like "Wow, I hear that's so hard to do!" or "I can't do that!", and this has been bugging me a lot.
We have to remember that an LD is completely your mind, and there are absolutely no restrictions whatsoever. With everyone saying stuff like flying is hard, it makes it way harder to fly for people, because then they've written it into their brain that it's really hard, so they doubt they can do it.
Where I first learned about LDing (A Kingdom Hearts Fansite...beleive it or not) I had long discussions with people who knew about it already, and they pushed it into my brain that it was incredibly easy and on your first try anything you want to do will happen. So I had a lucid dream on my first night (2 actually) and then a few more in the coming days, because I THOUGHT it was easy, so it was.
I know I'm new to the site, so I shouldn't be trying to change anything...and I like the people and stuff, just that's the only thing that's bugged me about here.
Thanks for hearing me out.

Hello Slyde! Glad you like it here.
One thing you have to keep in mind is that an obstacle for you may not be for someone else and visa verso.
I have certain obstacle in my lucid dreams. I can stand there and tell myself (THIS IS A DEAM) I can do ANYTHING!! But I can't. Or I should say I have not yet<
I know that there are know boundaries yet I have to fully believe something threw and threw. Otherwise you can't do it.
I don't know of too many people that are able to do anything and everything they want at there discretion in their lucid dreams.
The ones who can, my hats of to them. :)

Part of what you are saying is true. Indeed thinking that lucid dreaming is easy and effortless gives you confidence that relieves stress that in turn allows you to LD easier. It may also be a "placebo" effect.
There's also such thing as "beginners luck" - starting something new often results in success.
The problem starts when a newbie gains his first LD, then a couple days go by and the confidence disappears, there's a question of "why dont I get all these easy LDs?" So the confidence fails, people try to fake it, ruining the placebo effect so stress build up and things dont work out how they should be.
That's when people come here and complain :D
About control - a lot of it is up to you, but sometimes it takes many LDs to find a control technique that would work for you. Some people dont have the luxury of having many LDs to test basic control techniques so they use cookies cutter versions :D
