I doubt I'm the first to realize this, but this makes so much sense if you think about it.
I've done it over the past three nights and had three lucid dreams(one per night), and I haven't been keeping a dream journal, but with this method you don't need to know your dreamsigns, you just need to dream.
Here's the lowdown...
When we fall asleep, we are aware that we are lying in bed, trying to fall asleep; Now.... the next time we realize we are in a diferent situation, other than lying in bed trying to fall asleep; we are either A) Really Awake IRL or B) Dreaming....
So the trick is..... Do a reality check the second you are aware of anything other than being in bed trying to fall asleep. Whether it be awake IRL at the sound of the alarm clock or at the start of a dream.... the more you look for this moment of realizing you are no longer trying to fall asleep, the more likely you are to have it be at the start of the dream.....
The key is expectation......You expect to dream every night, so why not just look for the next time you are doing something other than lying in bed.
Also... even if you know for a fact you slept through the night and woke up IRL, do a reality check that very second you wake up. This gets you into the habbit of checking the moment you realize you have any sort of consciosness, dreaming or awake.
To make it simple, close your eyes, relax, let yourself drift to sleep... Notice the darkness....... Now all you have to think is "the next time I see ANYTHING, it may be a dream".
I'd appreciate feedback, as this works almost flawlessly for me so far, and I hope it helps others who struggle with random reality checks, and searching for dreamsigns(I never had any stable ones), and the like... It's almost efortless.
Thanks for listening....
Happy Dreaming.
Edit- Lol... My sig is old... May was my first month of attempting LDs(I was a little obsessed, I read EWLD every night), Ive been so busy since then that I've barely had any.... untill this month...

Actually that sounds alot like my Idea of BILD: Body Incudtion of Lucid Dreams where you stay aware of your body and ''where you left your body'' so that the very next thing you find yourself doing besides lying in bed must be a dream.
Only your version is more like MILD whereas mine is more as WILD.
MILD works with expectation and memory.
Maybe we could eventually develop 1 technique out of this.

i'll try this tonight but i thinks its more difficult then it sounds
-
Yeah, Go ahead and try it... You may be right...
It may be hard to get your brain to work that way(maybe mine thinks like that on it's own).
But if you expect to be dreaming the first time you realize you're awake after falling asleep, (not just expect, but check as well), sooner or later it will work.
Thanks for the feedback.

It sounds really hard, though it sounds smart the same time. I'll try it :)
-
Sounds interesting, but I have one problem with it. When I dream, I often start as though I was in the middle of the day, maybe even a task. At least, this is how it is of those I remember. So, if I, or my dream persona, am convinced that I was not just in bed trying to get some rest, I would likely not try to RC. I often do not carry on the idea that I was just sleeping (it has happened though).
Has this happened to you? Perhaps, with practice I will learn to recognize it.
-
Yes that has happened, But the key is realizing the the second you aren't in bed. If you go through half a dream before having the thought..."oh yeah, Im not in bed anymore." Then that is ok.... With a couple days of trying you will remember sooner and sooner.
-
Yer sounds like a mad idea... ill try it tonight... ive found if i ask my self to dream or lucid dream (I've only askd to lucid dream once and it wokred lol) it happens... so ill ask my self to realise what ever I do next must be a dream
-
Okay, it didn't work for me first try, but I had a very long and vivid dream, so I am good anyway! :D
I'll try again this evening. Also gonna read up on some WILD tuts, as I am practicing that :)
-
I tried again the last two nights and just had normal dreams.... It's like I totaly forgot, but it worked great the first few times.... It is probably a lot harder than I thought, and just worked well because the expectation was there.. I don't want to try too hard, so a few other people trying it is great... let me know if there is any success..
I love vivid dreams as much as lucid ones Marvo.... My day is always a great one after a good night's dreaming.
-
I have tried something similar; I have tried thinking as I go to sleep "The next person I talk to will be a DC" but I haven't gotten it to work yet.
-
...Wait.. can you tell when you fall asleep or something? Because I can't remember within 5 minutes of the period when I fell asleep.
-
hmm... I think I will try this as well and post the results in a week or two.
I have trained myself to automaticaly ask, "OK what was I just dreaming?" before I even get out of bed. Even if I wake in the middle of the night. Also I can usualy remember key words to remind me of my dream instead of having to grab a pen and pad during the night. Say if I dream about being a doctor in a hospital. I just tell myself to remember doctor that I dreamed about being a doctor. Then during my mornig recall I can bring that dream to memory as well as any other dream I may have had. Lately I had been remembering up to 4 dreams per night.
Anyway, I figure that if I can remember to do all that the moment I wake up then perhaps it will not be so difficult to remember to do RC the moment I notice that I am not trying to sleep. I imagine that the first few nights I will not do the RC until I actualy wake up.
Hey, I wonder how that will work during a FA?
-
I tried this last night, i have never lucid dreamed before, but it did not work...
although i had a pretty messed up dream :P
-
sounds like a defenate possiblity. i will be trying this tonight. i'll report back tommorow with the results!
-
Ok tried this last night. As expected, I did not remember to RC untill I actually woke up. It interfered with my recall ablity because I was trying to do an RC and recall my dreams at the same time. This confused my groggy mind and could I only remember one dream. However, a few minutes after waking , I remembered a dream from early in the night. And a few hours later I remembered that I had a moment of lucidity (I never thought I would forget a lucid dream). I dont know if the RC method helped me become lucid but it definitly affected my ablity to remember it. On the other hand I was impressed with myself that I actually remembered to RC upon waking since this was my first tempt. Anyway, I think I will continue to try this; it may just take some adjustment.

I've been doing it still for the past 4-5 days and also have been taking 25 mg of B-6 before bed... Ive had one lucid in that time, but there have been so many vivid dreams I'm actually starting to loose track of dream and reality, This is the first I've tried B-6..... It seems to do the trick in making dreams more lifelike.... which also works well with the "check as soon as you realize you are anywhere but lying in bed", method I described.
BTW My friend, who hardly recalled any dreams at all, had his first lucid a few days ago. He thinks it was because he was listening to me talk about my method to someone else....
