Is This A Specific Technique Already Used Or Is This My Own?

Ok. so I just woke up and I made a vivid dream log because I remembered it so well. stayed up about..12 minutes. kind still tired but not really. I decieded I wanted a lucid dream. Now mind you, I have only forced myself into a lucid dream one other time kind of using this technique, but this dream was so much more amazing.

I layed down and closed my eyes kind of trying to relax my body. I put my head down into the space inbetween two pillows and rested on my arm. all I could see was black, eyes open or closed. So. I wasn't really sleeping yet but I had a dream all of a sudden because I think I relaxed myself so well. this was after laying down for like 2 minutes. So with my eyes still closed I imagined myself travelling through darkness, like poking my head through it and coming out into the dream world but still in my room there. Kinda like its an ALT. Reality.

So. All of a sudden I remember hearing crashing and thinking "Wow, i'm never going to be able to lucid dream with that noise." but i remember now that there was no noise here or music or anything. but I know I wasn't in the dream yet. So. all of a sudden I was in my bed in a dark room when it had just been morning.

And there I was. a lucid dream.

Does doing any of those things signify any technique currently used?

That's WILD, man. Probably the most difficult technique. I'm jealous. That's where you lie there and relax until you find yourself in a LD. How long did it take you total?
The first part, the part where you woke up and went back to bed, is WBTB. This just increases the chances of having a LD or succeeding in a WILD.

I layed in bed a total of like 2 or 3 minutes I believe.

I didnt realize what I was doing was something otherd did :?

The dream though lasted for about an hour and 15 minutes, and was very very vivid. :bigteeth:

how cool! were you conscious the whole time until the dream?

Yes, entirely consious the whole time.

I wouldn't excactly call it WILD, but VILD. Visually Induced Lucid Dream.

That means to instead of going through a long process of relaxation, you just lay down, relax for a minute or two (like you did) and then you imagine stuff, like you did.

VILD is actually supposed to be done when you go to sleep, but so far, people have most success with it after a few hours of sleep. Congratulations man, it's a pretty tough technique that, as far as I know, is harder than WILD.

Hmm, yes. that does sound exactly like what I did. thats weird because I have never heard of that technique before, just what came natural.

I have only attempted it like twice I think but both times were succesful.

SILD Sensory-deprivation induced lucid dream. You said all you could see was black with your eyes open or closed, in this state i find it VERY easy to slip into a lucid dream because i foget if my eyes are open or closed, because its black, and then relise its not dark anymore (or just have some random crazy thing happen) and go "Yup....Im in a dream now".

Ehhh, I would classify VILD as just a method of WILD. All in all, however, I think people are all to eager to create silly acronyms for variations of existing techniques...

I see a WILD as basically, falling asleep while conscious and making a transition into a dream. All that is needed is a constant stream of consciousness. The transition can take many forms, as can the method of focus & retention of consciousness. "VILD" would be one of the latter, as would FILD. (that finger thingie method)

Likewise. MILD is sort of a way of making DILDs more likely. A DILD I see as any method in which the dreamer BECOMES lucid in a dream, or in which he is lucid throughout but was not a result of a stream of consciousness between sleep and wake.

But, I really think that excessive use of classifications and acronymns is a bit superfluous and confusing at times.

I put my arm inbetween two pillows and put my head on my arm so as not to be able to see any light.
