Hi,
I've been keeping a dream journal, reading about LD'in and on the forums, reading LaBerge's books and whatnot. However, I haven't had a LD yet and am wondering how long can this take? I've been actively trying for over two months now, but nothing even close to a REAL Ld.
Also, any tips of something new I could try?

It took me ten months to have my first lucid dream, although admittedly I did lose interest in trying.

I'm trying very hard to get back into lucid dreaming after taking such a long break. During the fifteen seconds I spent in my first lucid dream, I was just overcome with emotion. I didn't move, I just took it in for a second. That might've actually been a bad decision, shortening the dream, but I'll never forget that feeling I had.
When you ask for "something new to try", I suggest looking at the Tutorials for various induction techniques. My first was a Dream-Induced Lucid Dream (i.e. having the realization while already dreaming), but I've also tried some methods in which I tried to fall straight from consciousness into a dream. Despite having no success with those methods yet, it was an interesting experience nevertheless as I became close.
Ive been trying for 2 years, and still no LD. Ive only really been trying hard about the last 6 months or so. I'm still trying, and I'll get it yet!
Maybe try taking a break for a week or so. Then continue your training after that break like before. I think MILD might be a good technique to induce a lucid dream if RC's aren't manifesting themself in your dreams.
Thanks all, I'll try taking a break for a week before resuming practicing. Also, I did look through tutorials, but I've read most of them. :)

I didnt know what LDing was when i first started. For some ppl, it takes a longer time then others. Mabey depending on how suspectable you are to them.. or something

Get alot of sleep. I have recorded that all of my LD's come during the morning hours after sleeping 7-8 hours. It's like your reasoning mind waked up more and more during the night.
To remember to do the RC's I have painted a black dot on my left hand :)

Do things like black dots on your hand really help though? I mean, is the black dot there in the dream?
I had a very short lucid the very first night i found out about them...
then i had another one after about 40 days...

I keep it there for reminding me to do RC's but since I look at it so often sooner or later I will react that it's probably not there and realize it's a dream when I'm dreaming. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the mind creates a black spot there to "trick" you into believing you're not dreaming ;)Quote:

I've had several times so far where I end up sleeping in, and suddenly I jolt awake from whatever dream I'm having realising I fell asleep and was supposed to be up by now.
It's not excitement from it being a dream that wakes me up, it just seems to be an automatic response before I really become conscience to take controll. I'm fully conscience immediately afterward, though.
How could I stay asleep instead of waking up? I don't seem to have any controll, I just wake up before I can actually think about anything.
Hmm, that does sound odd. I think I've had it happen to me a few times, but not really in the way you put it.
In my experience, I don't think you can prevent it (but hey, don't listen to me. : P), maybe it's just your body knowing its rested. Do you feel tired after you wake up? Have you ever woken up NOT at the time you were supposed to wake up? (later, before)
Well, in this case it was weekends so I don't usually set any specific time. However, I feel fine after waking up. It's just sortof like a bare moment where I recognize it's a dream, but don't really think "I could be lucid" but "I should be up by now!". Usually, as I've said, I don't get enough sleep through the week so unfortunately I have to use the weekends to catch up.
Forgive me if this has been mentioned or if you've been doing it already, but saturating your subsonscious with LD related stuff might also help.
A small dose of obsession never goes amiss when trying to achieve something.
I've also had occassions where I've woken up and forgotten that I'd been lucid, only to remember it in a sudden flash a month or so down the line!
So you may have done it already and just forgotten the experience on entering consciousness.
These lucid-dreamy-thingies can be mighty slippery creatures sometimes! :D
