I'm currently on school holidays and what bothers me the most when I'm dreaming is that nearly every night I dream about my friends from school, my other classmates, my teachers and even being at school. I have no possible contact with my friends because I am in another city and school only starts on January 16th.
SO what I'm saying is that when I am dreaming of my friends I always accept it as reality. And I shouldn't! I mean, there's no way it can be reality, but I still accept it as. So is there any way for me to realise that I just cannot be with my friends or be at school? So I can be lucid and with my friends at the same time?

Well just find some RC and practice it. Last night i was changing a broken light bulb which was stupid because that one of the biggest signs you our dreaming. Every one has their dumb stories about how they didnt become lucid.

Well, it's very amazing how you could accept the weirdest things as reality. I've had that a lot too. One time I was walking in my living room. I was thinking: "Maybe I should do reality check now. Even though this isn't a dream." When I looked at my hands, I saw that they were deformed. "Holy carbonpaper. How can this possibly be a dream, when it's so real?" So yeah. Now it's harder for me to think that something isn't a dream. In fact, this could be a dream right now...
Well, that was an example of how realistic things can be. That even when you see it, it's hard to believe that it's actually dream. I suggest thinking about school now and then, and whenever you think about school (perhaps visualize yourself being in school?), do a reality check. I think after a few days, you will carry this habit into your dreams. Also, have faith that you will notice that it's a dream. :)

Thank you I will try that :)

Hey! So what! You dream about people that you know! There is nothing wrong with that. Every dream has a meaning. I think your dream is trying to tell you something. You miss your friends and most of all, you have a longing to go back to school :)
-
Yeah I think I do miss em. Its cos they dont exactly phone me or make contact with me during the holidays, unless of course it's on Mxit (A mobile instant mesaging program). And the only reason I have a longing to get back to school is to see my girlfriend, whom I cannot see at all since we are in a 'secret' relationship. (Her parents don't know about us, and mine don't either. Long story)
But I still want to realize that I am dreaming when this happens. And it also happens when I'm with family members that I clearly cannot be with as I am, as I said before, in another city.

Wow! You see! Dreams express a longing.
Are you strugling to control your dreams when you are dreaming? I don't exactly understand what you are saying? sorry. :|
-
LOL, em...hmmm..am I? I guess it is control like any other. I believe everything that is happening is real at most times and just go with the flow.
He he, what am I confusing you with that you dont understand?

there is a possibility that it could become reality, if you master the technique of shared dreaming...i have been fortunate to be able to do it while lucid on one occassion and on that occassion i managed to summon up my friend into a white room....the day after i asked him if he had any dreams last nights, and he said he remembered driving a car and then randomly appearing in a white room and seeing a shadowy figure infront of him before he woke up... in my dream it was hazy and i also saw him as a shadow figure....next time i turn lucid again thats going to be the first thing that i do.....
-
Jesus dude, thats awesome! I wish I could do that so I could see my GF. haven't seen her in 27 days.
-
Deathly_hollow, that is completely normal to accept dreams as reality! that is called non-lucid dreams. I have dreams of flying and going to a school ive never seen before with people i see from TV that i call 'friends'. try some kind of other technique that works best for you; deprive yourself of sleep with a few power naps here and there and you'll be fully lucid in no time. you also need to go into habits doing things like you would reality checls for becoming lucid, like "my friends are not real" or something along those lines. try to make it such a big habit that you say it and realize it in your dreams, just the same as realizing that you are lucid.
hope it helps.

Ok thank you, I'll do that :)

Every time you think of your friends in RL (or text them or w/e), do a RC. Maybe it will transfer into your dream.
