Why should I stay up for 60-90 minutes? It seems like going right back 2 bed would do it just fine.
people say that sleeping for 6 hours, getting up for 10 minutes and thinking about lucid dreaming, then going back to sleep is effective.
It depends on what works for you. I think people only say 'stay awake for 60-90min' because your mind is more active or something.
Yeh 'really' is right, staying up for 60-90period is when your mind is most active and also you might go back straight into REM period, what you could do to improve your chance of LDing while staying up is read articles about Lucid Dreaming, maybe you could have a banana ? :P <Vitamin B6! I reckon WBTB is the best method because normally if I dont want to WBTB i'd just try to attempt WILD.
Everyone's different so just try different amounts of time. I've had accidental WBTB's before when I've got up to go to the bathroom or something, then went back to sleep, and I was only up for 2-3 minutes max.
I'm the same except I conciously pick times where I'll most likely fall asleep within 5 minutes. The Early Hours - though that is just my personal preference and I give my reasons why.
I mean I can pull off a WILD after being awake for an hour, but then it takes me atleast 30 minutes to do it - and that's just annoying. My "WBTB" is have my cell phone go off, get up and turn it off, lay back down immediatly, and hopefully have enough motivation to try the lucid :P
I hardly ever stay up past about 30 mins, max, when doing WBTB, and WBTB is still my most effective way of having a lucid dream, besides a wake-less DILD. If I stay up for too long and try to go back to sleep, I will toss and turn for hours without falling asleep again.
As has been said, it all depends on you. If you wanna get up for 10 minutes, lie back down with the dead-on intention to recognize when you are dreaming, or even remind yourself as you are falling asleep "I'm dreaming, I'm dreaming, I'm dreaming" and it will probably be just as effective.
