this is something that worked for me a few years ago. i haven't done this recently because... well, mainly because i'm lazy. it does require some effort, but it worked for me.
my problem was that i was ALWAYS forgetting to do RC's. i just have a bad memory, plus a job where i'm on the phone all day. i've read that some people write on their hand to remind them to do RC's, but to me this wouldn't work. it seems like it's very possible that in your dream, there would be nothing written on your hand to remind you.
so what i did was keep an index card and pen in my pocket during the day. every time i did a RC, i wrote down the time. i couldn't write down two times within 10 minutes of each other (otherwise, you'd be writing way too much). obviously, you should still do the RC whenever you think of it, just only WRITE on the card if it's been 10 or more minutes. i tried not to go more than 20 minutes or so without doing one. may seem like a lot, but it eventually got me in the habit of doing RC's. i came up with the 20 minute thing just based on REM times... i figured that would give me a good shot to "get lucky" during one of my REM periods. physically writing down the times somehow "grounded" the RC habit for me. plus, having an index card in your pocket is more "challenging" to your memory than having something written on your hand.
i did this for a week or two with no results... then finally, one night i told myself, "it's ok if i don't have a LD tonight"... tried to take all the pressure off. voila, LD that night. of course you can use any method you want to induce LD'ing, but just having the RC habit helped me. let me know if it works for anyone else.

Reality checks seem to work for me the most for inducing LD.
Ill try and do on every 20 mins and see how that goes.
The problem is, i always forget to do them in the dream. I have no control, untill im lucid, so its unlikely that ill do a RC at random.
I suppose consitant efforts will pay off.

i totally know what you mean. i was starting to get discouraged with this method, but it worked after making it a habit (kinda like i didn't need the card anymore)... if you make it that much of a daily habit, you're bound to do one in a dream... as Stephen LaBerge says, you dream about what you think about.

I've been struggling abit with RC's.
Holding your nose and breathing all the time begins to look a little wierd to the people you work with everyday. Hahaha.

you know i've heard a lot of people say they feel weird doing the "nose check"... what i do, if i'm at work or something, is just to kind of do "The Thinker" pose... know what i'm talking about? fist to face, finger joints of index and middle fingers to cover up nostrils. no one has ever noticed anything with me.
