Anywhere from 2-15 minutes after I wake up. Usually, the longer it is taking, the less likely I am to do it. So I'd say most from 5-7 minutes. Then again, this is when I am laying in bed, sleepy, and not paying attention to anything but relaxing, so my judgement of time might be messed up.
If I am attempting to WILD and several minutes go by without success then it usually means its morning and time to get up. Before that point each time I wake up I can either WILD within a few minutes or I just lose awareness again.
thanks guys.
so its not like some people say- hours and hours?
Less than 15 minutes.
I'd say normally no more than 45 minutes.
I think it's really hard to tell unless someone who's awake is right there with you timming it all. When I'm in that zone between sleep and awareness, I seem to lose concept of time - and I suspect we all do.
I was fortunate enough to have a "short" WILD this morning - but I say short because I only remember a couple things that happened once I got past the hypnogoggia (or hypnopompia - I think I may have been waking up). My collection of memories make it seem like it only took about 30 secondes between the audible portion and then the visuals. But, that's only based on what I recalll.
just make sure your not to focused, just passive, if i can do that right after waking up and have the motivation, it can take about 5-15min
anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes
(when I first started it could take up to 2 hours :()
But that was just because I was too tense
2-15 min.
ok so i keep hearing stuff about being tense or not being tense. what are you guys talkingabout?
and, which of the peoples' techniques should i use? i mean i have read tons of techniques. which is most beginner-Friendly?
I think they mean mentally tense. In my experience, if I am trying too hard or getting too worked up about it then my attempts are sort of thwarted. However, if I just sort of lie there and let it happen then things usually work out.
I will usually attempt WILD in the morning when I wake up from a dream. Sometimes I will be dreaming and then a noise or something will wake me up. I will realize that I am awake but will keep my eyes closed and NOT MOVE at all. Then I start thinking about my dream and what it was like. After about a minute or two of thinking about the dream I will get sucked back into it. Sometimes I will be lucid, sometimes not, however I have found the technique to be most effective for me. I don't know if it is a WILD in its pure definition, but it is based on WILD techniques that I have read. The trick is to just let it happen and be confident that you can do it. If you try too hard then you will probably just wake yourself up.
Wait, WILD takes 15 or less minutes generally once you get experienced? In all the almost a year I've been here, I've never really wanted to try WILD as wasting 45 minutes of my precious sleep (I like sleeping) every time I want to LD doesn't appeal to me, and DILD has none of that. Though I will still be doing RCs and stuff, now that I have feb. vacation, I might just start trying to WILD.
Yes, this is very interesting, I thought it took like hours and I give it a half-hearted try and then realize I have to get up in a couple hours so I better get some sleep.
Got anymore questions, Skuruza? This is eliciting some useful information.
I think some are talking about WILDing without first going to sleep. I've never been able to do that, mine are always in the middle or end of my nights sleep. WILDing without sleeping probably takes a long time, i've never tried. I wasn't able to WILD until it happened randomly a few times, I had already been having LDs for months. After it happened randomly I kinda understood what I had to do and I slowly started being able to attempt it, but many times I still just fall back asleep.
ok, so i tried to try it, and woke up. i was going to get outa bed, but was too lazy.
See, I've been trying to WILD for a few nights now. Without the WBTB method, but with the Reverse Blinking till I'm totally relaxed, then a normal WILD technique. Last night, In maybe...30 minutes? I managed to get to the beginings of SP and some strange noises in the top of my skull which sounded like a Mallet (this happened two nights in a row, I'm sure it wasn't my heart beat =D) and some vibrations, some other physical sensations, and also this weird hallucination which I've had as a child, not really a 'thing' but more like a feeling of being really closed in and cosy behind your eyelids (I used to have some weird things happen in that state as a child) which was bought on by this spinning ring I saw...and I've been trying this for only thee nights, since I heard of Lucid Dreaming. But obviously, with each new sensation I get a little bit excited, some times to much and I wake myself up. But your own hands floating out of your body? That's a cool feeling =D
