Questions On The Wild Technique

I attempted to induce a lucid dream using the WILD technique this morning, but I was unsuccessful. I counted as I fell asleep, then I started hearing a repetitive noise and I figured the WILD process was working. After a moment, my eyelids started twitching, but I didn't worry about it since I had read on the message board that someone else had the same experience. I was happy that the technique appeared to be working, but I didn't see any imagery accompanying the eyelid twitching. Eventually, the twitching and the noise stopped after I had counted past 100, so I tried opening my eyes to see if I was dreaming, but I performed a few reality checks and I determined that I was awake.

Now that I actually have some experience practicing the WILD technique, I have a few questions about it.

Is it common to experience eyelid twitching when attempting the WILD technique? If so, for how long?

Do I have to imagine my own imagery, or should it appear without my willing it to?

If my eyes stay closed during the entire process, how do I know when I'm dreaming?

Should I open my eyes when I think I'm dreaming, or should I stay completely motionless until I see some dream imagery?

ill try to answer these as best as i can, but only one of the answers wll probobly help you ...

i've experienced twitching, but it was more like blinking that was preventing me to keep my eyes closed and i think it might be common

usually the imagery starts by itself, but if you start to imagine something, it might get the imagery to start up.

since you keep your eyes closed, you shouldnt open them to see if your dreaming, simply do the nose RC and thatll pretty much tell you your dreaming

im not sure, but do a RC if you think you are and if you are dreaming, open your eyes, so dont open your eyes until an RC works and you can confirm your dreaming

trust me man you will know when you start the dream cause its usually quite hectic before you start dreaming. you might hear weird noises and might see weird images but u most likely will feel very weird. Like you are falling or sinking into your bed. Most of the time alot more than twitchy eyes and noises (the noises will most likely get alot louder too).

Just out of curiosity, how long do most people have to wait from the time they try to enter a dream to the time they enter one?

for me it depends. usually (if i wake up at the right time, still messing around with that) it takes anywhere between 10-30 min. but its different for everyone.

Whenever I WILD, it only takes about a minute, because it's in the middle of the night, upon awakening from a dream (not DEILD since this is a few minutes after I move around and stuff)
And It's usually by accident, sometimes it's not, and it would still be around a minute, I've still never combined it with WBTB, so when I do i'm sure it will work.

Eye twitching happens to me rarely, I've never seen HI scenes when performing a WILD, never.
Eventually the dream imagery will form around you while your eyes are closed, you won't have to open them or anything, that will just result in a failure. All though, one time I've had to open my eyes, and I was in a dream bed.

no not all the time, i remember one specific wild where i went through the vibrations and i felt a hard surface under me. when i opened my eyes i was in a big purple truck.

I have not been able to successfully induce a lucid dream if I cannot recall any dreams when I wake up after 5-6 hours of regular sleeping.

I have a question for those who combine the WBTB technique with the WILD technique: Do you find that it's difficult to induce a WILD if I you not recall any dreams when your alarm clock wakes you up?

I tried to use the WILD technique again this morning, but I didn't hear the sound this time, my eyelids didn't twitch, and no dreams appeared. I tried over and over again for about an hour without succeeding. I felt my limbs become still, my breathing increased at one point, and I saw light patterns swoosh around behind my closed eyelids two times, but I did not start dreaming. I think that either I stayed awake too long after my alarm went off for the technique to work and/or I'm having difficulties striking the right balance between relaxation and attempting to remain conscious.

nope. Doesnt effect me at all. In fact i dont remember my dreams before wbtb 99% of the time anyway lol
