Just for clarification purposes:
A WILD is a "Wake-Induced Lucid Dream" correct? I find that the best time for me to actually dream and remember it is after waking and then going back to sleep. That's when I find that I can have the best dream recall as well as getting lucidity. Am I correct?
Another thing...
Reality checks are hard for me to do... I have a VERY hard time remembering to do them. Is there another method that can be used as a reality check or something like that?

Wake-Induced means that you were concious through the transition from waking to dream world, which almost always guaruntees lucidity (because you already know you've entered a dream as soon as you've entered one!). It doesn't sound like you had a WILD, rather one of the ones that starts with a D (DILD? DEILD? I'm not too good with the acronyms yet).
Because REM periods get longer (and NREM gets shorter) the closer you get to morning, you are correct, waking up at normal time and then going back to bed is a better bet at dream recall (mostly for the dream that happens right after you fall back asleep). Indeed, most of my lucids occurred on the weekends, in which I'd wake up, think 'weekend,' and fall back asleep, without moving or getting up from my bed.
Hmmm... Good reality checks are... Try putting a finger through the back of your hand. Doesn't work too well, does it? In a dream, it'll work. I also use a 'pressing against glass' technique, looking at clocks and text to see if it changes, and plugging the nose to see if you can still breathe through it. Do you reality check in real life often? Try to do it once per hour. Also, check your dream journal for reoccuring themes, and whenever you see those themes in real life, do a reality check. I always dream about fish or water (probably because I sleep next to my fishtank, with its trickling filter, but that's besides the point). So whenever I see fish, I perform a reality check in hopes that when I see fish again in my dream, I'll do a reality check there, too!
