If you don't know how to perform self hypnosis read this http://www.wikihow.com/Perform-Self-Hypnosis or alternatively you can listen to a hypnosis file. Well I did this technique last night and got a very vivid lucid dream and my friend who came up with this got a vivid lucid dream too, however we both failed to stay up all night. Now this technique involves sleep deprivation so you should do it on a week day if you have work or something.
Well the method is simple instead of going to sleep at your normal time you will sit up in the dark and begin hypnosis i.e. using the suggestion you will remain conscious always. You will do this for a hour and then you will begin to meditate with your eyes open looking into the dark doing tibetan dream meditation http://www.plotinus.com/zhine_tibetan_dream_yoga.htm . Finally when you have done this you will do some visualization like imagining yourself in a first person shooter or flying in a first person shooter. You will repeat this intill the time you wake up and then you will do the above if you have spare time throughout the day.
Note the longer your self deprived the bigger the effects are and my friend said if you can last more then three days then maybe your brain will adapt and you will be able to lucid dream at will. What if with alot of hard work you can change your brain like in meditation your prefrontal cortex gets bigger. Well I am planning to sleep deprive myself for up to four days if you have any tips to pull this off without drinking lots of coffee or taking drugs then help me. Also don't drink caffine or take drugs if your going to do this.

The planet Earth exhibits all of these properties and therefore can be considered alive and its own single organism by the scientific definition.
      7. Reproduction: The ability to produce new organisms.
does the planet Earth reproduce, well no unless you count the moon.

While, this method might be able to stir results, I can't say that I think its a good idea to deprive yourself of sleep. It can have serious, long lasting effects on you health... In a lot of cases, leading to heart failure.

Well I saw a program on channel four where they sleep deprive people for a week and after the show they were alright and person on the show said it is alright to sleep deprive yourself once in a while. See once you go back to sleep then everything goes back to normal. A good example would be people who fly airplanes have the same quailty of life as other people and they sleep deprive themself.

Although I agree with you that depriving yourslef for a few days probably won't have any severe pernament consequences. Lots of people have done this before. You should be carefull during those four days. Don't drive or anything like that. Good luck on this. You should post the results on here.

      Thumbs down

I have quite a lot of experience with sleep deprivation seeing as how I attempted to go polyphasic (polyphasic sleeping rocks, but its tough). The longest I have been awake is 42 hours, and only went to sleep because I felt it would be bad for me to go much longer, not because I felt extremely tired. I would say do not go much longer than 2-3 days and I would even suggest trying the uberman sleep schedule and meditate many times during the day. I have no knowledge, and am quite skeptical about hypnosis, but it does sound rather intriguing so I wish you the best. Report back if you survive!
Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world? -- Morpheus

Smoke some crystal meth. Lol jk
I did this once and I find even just a little bit of exercise really wakes you up. Also this is good coz after the stimulant effects of exercise wear off you get EVEN more tired quicker. I stayed up for 3 days once and I started hallucinating, just to warn you.

You mean SHOULDN'T do it on a week day right?

Just one question. You say you start visualising yourself in a first person shooter or watever, is this supposed to lead you into a lucid dream? like WILD?

Hey Wendy, why don't you just try your "holding your breath technique". That will really stop you from falling asleep!

Just kidding, but you are definitely proving to be an extremist and I think I like that. I do a lot of meditation as well and I have been meaning to meditate for an extra long period as well, so I think I will try your technique again! I will meditate for the next two nights and then try to remain awake until the third night although I can picture myself really struggling.

Do you think fasting at all might help or would that be too extreme?
