The other day, while I was laying in bed and practicing something of a MILD technique, I found myself wondering as to whether or not it would be more effective for me to repeat "The next time that I'm awake...I will recognize that I'm dreaming" instead of "The next time that I'm dreaming...".
Has anyone else here on the board ever tried this approach? If so, have any luck with it? I have yet to experiment with it myself but hope to give it a serious attempt soon.

Very good point. "The next time that I'm dreaming"" suggests you should "Recognise that you are Dreaming" while in a Dream. This is actually rather stupid because in Dreams you will always assume that you're awake and believe everything is real. How can you remeber when to ''Recognise that you're Dreaming" when you, asleep or awake, always assume you are awake and never assume you are dreaming to begin with? Sounds like a Catch22 Mantra :P
I see how this could work. I'm going to try it tonight.
That's some real bright thinking there. ;)
PS: I read the Topic's title and before I started reading your post I wrote down: ''The next time I'm Dreaming could be NOW.'' :P

How about, " I will remember to check whether I'm awake or asleep".

Yeah, I've tried this method, but it wasnt particularly successful in general.
I've had success with specific wording like "Next time I will find myself in place X I will instantly realize I"m dreaming" or "Next time I will find myself doing X I will perform a reality check".
It takes a LONG time to get this suggestion to work though, so dont give up after a couple failures.

Oh no, I definitely won't be giving up on any technique...ever! Especially after WILDing for the first time earlier this week. MILDing is something that I have always had a wee bit-o-trouble with though. Its always been difficult for me to concentrate on any given thought for more than ooh... half a minute. Really, I'm just trying not to rely on DILDs as much.
