At it... tell us what you are doing! What techniques? How is your dream recall? Do you keep a journal?
i dont exactly know what technique im using, i get really confused with all of this at times.
but my dream recall is pretty good, or at least better than it was at least two or three(not that great) and i DO keep a journal, i have actually filled up two little notebooks(im very descriptive)lol
Well, the dream journal is a GREAT start!
The next thing I would suggest, without knowing more about how you are approaching this, is to recommend you head into the tutorials here and do some reading. With a journal and good recall, DILD would be a great place to start - Dream Induced Lucid Dream. You might also look at MILD - Mnemonic Induced Lucid Dream.
The tutorials are really well written. If you have any questions after going through them, post them!
THANK YOU!
that should help alot.
ive been trying for awhile and nothing has been working. lol now i guess i know why.
Keep in mind that trying too hard can lead to frustration, which leads to stress, which is bad for lucid dreaming. Leading (once again) to more frustration.Quote:

Keep it fun, something extra to do - not something you HAVE to do. You'll get it. :wizard:
persistence is key... and also dj.
thank you guys!
Hey all, I am new, but very excited to get into LD. I don't care so much to control dreams.... that is almost a scary though.... to much power for me. However, just the idea of knowing I am dreaming, and trying to recall dreams, and details is exciting. I always wake up from dreams, and can't remember all the details. And while dreaming, I think it's the real world... then when I wake up, I still think I am dremaing, but think it's the real world... (wow, that made much more sence in my head). I just think gettign into LD will help me to not only enjoy my dreams more, but also help me to keep the real and dream world more separated, and help with the waking up in anxiety from the dreams I have.
Jjbova, make a new thread. Now you're hijacking the thread.
Automatic, I suggest you read through your entire dream-journal, maybe twice, and everytime you see something that's happened more than once in different dreams, you write that on a paper. Once you've got a full list, take the 10 things that has happened the most, and make them your dream-signs. Everytime you experience similare things in real-life, do a reality-check. This will highten your chances of DILDs a lot.
Combine this technique with WBTB. Read your 10 dreamsigns over and over again, kinda like MILD, for maybe 2 to 5 minutes, make sure that you do some reality-checks while you read the paper, then you're sure to become lucid, very soon.
DILD: Dream Induced Lucid Dream. The lucid-dream is induced while dreaming, usually by a reality-check.
Reality-check: A check, that can tell you whether you're dreaming or not. This could be blogging your nose with your fingers, and see if you can breath through anyway.
MILD: Mnemonic Induced Lucid Dream. This is where you do a WBTB, and then read and focuse on lucid-dreaming for 5-10 minutes, until you're totally fixed on it, whereafter you go back to bed.
WBTB: Wake Back To Bed. This is where you get up after 5-7 hours of sleep, and go back to bed again. Can be combined with techniques like MILD, WILD, VILD and much else. WBTB is not a technique in itself, but a technique enhancer.
whoa.
thats alot.
thats also alot that will help, thank you so very much.
been trying for a long time, maybe thisll work. :content:
Just my two cents. You need to understand sleep cycles and when you dream. There is a write up on this
in the main dreamviews page.
WBTB is the most powerful technique in my opinion. Once you understand sleep cycles you understand why.
This is the only way to go from a point of full consciousness - almost directly into REM (i.e. - you have the potential
to hit a REM phase quickly after loosing conscious awareness). In this state however, it's much easier to catch
dream signs or other unusual events and to allow your conscious mind to re-manifest itself.
Good luck with it :)
hmm. this should help an immense amount. ill will do everything you guys said that i should. :) and i just started going over the sleep stages again.
