My nose and reading RC's both failed.

Two nights ago, I dreampt that my father was driving me to the beach. I looked out the passenger window to see that the sand had a line separating the dark sand from the light sand. Confused, I held my nose shut for a moment. After not breathing, I assumed I wasn't dreaming.

Last night, I was walking past a movie theather and read a notice on the window and could clearly read the paper that said "Closed" on it.

Am I doing this wrong? The only time I have ever had a lucid in my life was due to a dream cue. For instance

My first lucid: I was in my parents store walking down the stairs and saw my father walk up the other set. I kept walking down the aisle and heard footsteps in the other. I thought "This is definately not my Dad, no way." My dad walks in from around the corner and at that point I knew I was dreaming"

My second: This morning I WBTB around 5 to 5:30-ish, I find myself in my Bathroom shower with all of my clothes on. Yea that isn't an obvious cue. I jump up and travel through the ceiling and fly out.

Maybe I'm not thorough enough in my reality checks. What does everyone else do. Better question. What is your personal RC that you favor most.

O and another thing, I recieved a call on my cellphone once... IN MY DREAM!! this has to be the most aggravating thing ever. Although I have to say I'm haveing more freqent LD's now that I spend much of my free time researching them.

I often find that reading something in a dream doesn't work too well, so my personal favorite is sticking my hand through a solid object. You'd think it would be one of the harder ones to do, but it seems to be quite easy in your dream. As soon as your hand goes through, there certainly is no doubt you're dreaming.

Also, it has to be one of the weirdest feelings around, you can feel the object sliding through the inside of your body like a hard line, very cool.

Try pushing your finger through your hand.

Also, re-read the sign. It's quite likely that the text has changed.

One more sure-fire technique is to back track. What were you doing before you got in the car? If you can't answer, or the answer doesn't make sense, you know you're dreaming.

Read the text, look away, imagine that the text changes into "Salamy" or something else. Read it again.

well I've been experimenting with the finger through hand trick, but it hasn't been used in my dreams yet. The text idea sounds good. I'm actually confused as to what I'm going to use next. However, through past memories of my dreams as a kid, I've got an idea as to my own. I once had a dream that I went swimming and I went to hold my nose as I went underwater. I realized after a second or so, I couldn't hold for more than a second or two. I started breathing and to my surprise, I could breathe underwater. Now, everytime I do a RC I'm gonna hold it for five seconds. If I can't do it then I'm dreaming. Wadya think?

maybe you just didnt think you would be able to breath? and reading takes a few looks ya know?

I have a reading RC i find highly successful.

I wear one of those cheap rubber bracelets with a motivational saying on it.

I have a blue one that says "realise your dream"

I triple check the text on the bracelet every 10 to 30 minutes, and also whenever i get in or leave my car, or whenever i enter or leave a building or room.

It's never failed me once.

sounds like an idea. I think I might just do that. O and another question...

what do you do if the spinning trick that teleports you doesn't work. because I was dreaming and found myself locked in a cell made up of wood and it didn't have airholes or anything. just a lightbulb hanging from the ceiling in the middle of the room. First I spun around with my eyes closed and imagined being at the beach. I almost heard the sound of seaguls, but then I ended up back in the room again. I did it another two times and then said fuck it. I started freaking out and running around until I had a false awakening.

Wait, when you do the nose pinching RC, you try to breath through your nose? Becouse somewhy I read from what you write that you just pinch your nose. (By the way it's kinda funny feeling to breath through your nose when you shouldn't be able).

And about spinning, hmmm... I don't really know, I only had 1 real LD (I know, it's lame, I should do this a "bit" more). But, if you can spin until a FA, then you are out of the room, aren't you? :P You just have to realize it's a FA...

The spinning technique, is about spinning so much, that you can't see anything. At this point, imagine a place which you want to go to, and slow down again. You should then be in that place, or you should be in atleast another place :p

actually good news... two nights ago I tried the nose RC and the finger-through-hand RC and they both worked. Weird thing is, their was a voice in my dream telling me to do them, almost like a narrator or a voice-over guy talking to me. Other than that lucid, I haven't had any others

I did the spinning RC last night but again it didnt work. I'll run through how I did it: I closed my eyes and spun counter clockwise to my left, first slowly, nothing. I then spun faster now with much concentration on where I wanted to go. I got nothing. I have only a few more things to do. A.) use the "Lucid Pills" theory of taking a pill in my dream that will take me to my destination or B.) summoning a door (I've gotten good at summoning considering I only began LDing a month ago) and stepping through into my destination. If those don't work then I'm not going to be happy because I plan on taking a trip to the moon at least once, and I don't want to have to fly because I hate heights and I always lose lucidity when I fly for some reason.
