What does the rash have to do with it? :p
Well, a lot of people seem to be able to WILD during an afternoon nap. Doing it right before bed at night probably won't work but maybe you can also do it in the morning after sleeping your fill of however many hours and just laying in bed a little longer.
I've tried WILD right before bed before, with no success. I got pretty far into sleep paralysis, but there were no images coming and no signs of the transition. Although it may be possible, I don't recommend trying it because it's a waste of time and it's much easier after WBTB or in an afternoon nap as Mes Tarrant has said. Maybe you could benefit trying this after having a lot of WILD success with WBTB and such.
The limited success I have had with WILD have been from the onset of sleep. So yes, it is possible.
It has to do with the mental frame of mind more so than the time or method.
Often WBTB method works very well with the WILD technique because your conscious mind has been more or less controlled by your subconscious sleeping mind.
So as you wake up and go back to bed your subconscious is still at an easily engaged state and your logical processes of your brain have been awoken enough to maintain control through the WILDing process but not too much to the point of waking yourself up.
