Over one year dry spell.

Well, I've been on this forum for a long time, and over a year ago got my first and only LD. I'm having a lot of issues with LDing and WILDing, I don't even really have the best dream recall.

If anyone can help, there's been a lot on my mind recently. I'm just starting at college, working on my work as a concept artist, and training to go on Sasuke. I can't seem to find time to reality check, maybe I'll do it three times a week if I'm lucky. I also can't seem to stay focused during the WILD process. My mind goes blank after twenty minutes, and I feel nothing afterwards, and just slip into a dream. I've been working on my recall and trying to remember to write them down for months now, but nothing seems to be working.

I would be so grateful if anyone could help me out. I'm getting nowhere in LDing, and ever since I found out about it two years ago, I've wanted it to be a regular thing to happen. Thank you in advance.

These things are always very hard to figure out, as they are so subjective. What might block one person from having lucid dreams might not be what's blocking another.

That said, some general advice I would give, without knowing the specifics of your problem, is to not be 'too hung up' on lucid dreams. Let go of the desire to have lucid dreams for a while, and just focus on your regular dreams. Learn to appreciate them, learn to remember them, learn to understand them. Learn to recognize the reappearing elements in them. Learn the moods you're in when you have them. If you can, even learn to interpret them to an extend for yourself.

What you're doing that way is building yourself a solid foundation. Once you're more aware of your dreams in general, then you can begin specialising towards a particular type of dream (lucid dreams in this case).

In short, forget lucid dreams for a little while, take an active interest in your dreams in general, and when you're ready, then take the next step towards lucid dreams.

you need to not worry about it and let it happen. every night when your tryin to sleep, say to yourself "i will remember my dreams when i wake up". also, keep a dream journal. you should write down as much as you can remember in your dreams after you awake.

after a while you'll notice recurring dream themes which is normal and they are different for everyone. keep writing them down. the point of this is to notice youre in a dream during a recurring dream, eventually.

during your waking life, practice doing reality checks so they might come natural when you are dreaming. do things like look at your hands, look at the clock, hold your nose and try to breathe. do all these repeatedly throughout the day. when you look at your hands, look away then look again. If you do a reality check in your dream and you have 6 fingers on each hand, or the time on the clock changes if you look at it twice, or you can breathe even when holding your nose, your dreaming.

after you can get through all these steps, the next step is staying lucid which is basically self taught. good luck and never give up. its nothing to get frustrated about its something to practice while relaxing.

Heya! :) Don't worry at all. I have all the confidence in you. Sometimes the worries we have in waking life make it harder for us to focus on remembering dreams and LDing, so I would suggest focusing on getting adjusted to college/working/training, and then finding a way to fit in LD practice into your schedule.

RCs don't have to take up any time. Just hold your nose and try to breathe through it every time you walk into your room or every time you use the bathroom.

Try a wide range of techniques. If you are pressed for time, WILDing might not be the best choice. You might want to stick to just firmly resolving to LD right before you fall asleep and induce a DILD. Every time you wake up in the middle of the night, don't move a muscle, and just drift back to sleep with the intention of lucid dreaming in your mind.

Your dry spell might seem frustrating, but I honestly think that whatever is keeping you from LDing can be easily fixed! I'd like to hear your reply to people's comments.. maybe there's something to your story we're still missing.

Okay, thanks for the help everyone. Well, the thing is that LDing kind of slips in my mind every once and a while, and I don't obsess over it, but when ever I want to do it, I always seem to have something blocking me. Last night, I got a falling sensation like I was going to fall into a dream, but nothing happened. I have decent dream recall, but I'm always 0% lucid in my dreams.

Another thing might be that I've been having headaches for the past month and a half, causing me not to be able to sleep sometimes, but that wouldn't explain why during those other months I haven't been able to do it. A lot of times I do forget to RC, because it doesn't cross my mind, and it's not a habit. It seems like it's on the back-burner of my mind but when it comes up, it's just not happening. Whenever I get to a point where I think SP might come up, everything stops. The sensation goes away, my mind is a blank with no HI at all. If I lied there for another half-hour, nothing would happen. This is even after trying to WBTB. I hope this helps to try and figure this out.

If LDing is sort of in the back of your mind on most days, you'll have less success with it than if you went around with the serious intent of having a lucid that night. All you need to do really is make your mind believe that you will have a LD, and it will happen.

that sums it up. i find that just being on this site for a while each day, and researching lding is also a great helper. It kinda plants the ld thing in your head, ya know?
