Need help WILDing
I've had a total of 2 LDs but they were about 4 months apart. I have had a good dream recall but nothing seems to work. So I thought i might try a WILD.
I tried four times. I tried to breathe slowly and count my breaths but nothing happened. I just ended up lying there for about 45 mins and accomplishing nothing.:(
Can somebody tell me what I am doing wrong?

It depends when and how you were doing it. Even though WILDs can be done anytime, anywhere, anyhow it's very hard to achieve. To create the most suitable circumstances for a WILD you should use the WBTB like method. Wake up after around 6 hours of sleep and try it then. Also moving even slightly might ruin it. Try to stay still untill you get into a dream.
You didn't really give us much info to work with. So here are some Tutorial links that might indicate what went wrong or how to possibly succed next time. Checking the Tutorial section could be quite helpfull in general if you're having a hard time.

Well I tried, but still no luck.
I just can't seem to get anywhere.
First, I set my alarm for 3:00 in the morning(5 hours after going to bed).
At 3:00, I woke up, went to the toilet and had a drink, and then went back to bed.
I then lay on my back, completely still, and tried to relax. I counted my breaths and tried not to think too much, but nothing ever happened. No vibrations, no HI, no sleep paralysis. Nothing.
After about 40 mins i gave up. Then I thought maybe it cas because i was sleeping on my back. So I tried again on my side. Nope. Still nothing. Another 40 mins wasted. So I gave up and went to sleep.
I had the flu a few weeks ago and i still have a slightly sore throat, and while trying to WILD, I constantly felt the need to swallow. Could this be the problem? Maybe I was focusing too much on my sore throat?

Hey there,
WILD is a difficult technique to master. I also think it depends a lot on your own physiology, how your body goes to sleep, how quickly it goes to sleep, how deep it sleeps, and what not. That means that for some its easier then others, and for some its just hard.
Still, with confidence and perseverence, I think (hope) that just about anyone can master it.
But there's several important factors there. Don't get impatient, don't get frustrated, don't worry too much about it, don't give up. All of these things will work against you.
Additionally, yes, make sure the conditions are as easy as you can make them. Trying it while being ill is probably not a good idea, trying it while there's a lot of disturbance or noise probably isn't either. Trying it while you're pressed for time, again, probably not such a good idea.
All that said, here's how I try to look at it. Every attempt is a succes, even if I don't WILD, simply in that it teaches me a bit more about my body going to sleep, gets me more used to and aware of all the sensations I can expect to go through, and sets my intention. If I fail tonight, that just paves the way for tomorrow. And tomorrow I'll be a little more prepared.
Just my 2 cents,
