Is Waiting for 30 min essential for a WBTB?

I've tried WBTB three times now, each time for about 5-10 min. The first two times I came very close to realizing it is a dream. My attempt last night resulted in a really good LD, but I feel as if the control was a bit less strong than usual and I don't remember it very well.

The tutorial says do 30 min minimum. Why is that? Will my LD be stronger if I wait the extra 20 min? I don't want to wake up too much or else I won't be able to get back to bed. I normally just get a drink of water, go to the bathroom, and do reality checks with the lights off (which is rather difficult for the bathroom part). I was thinking of browsing the forums, but I'm afraid the bright comptuer screen will wake me up too much.

      Hey there,

Any technique needs to be personalised. We're all just a little different. So if you feel 30 minutes is too long for you, then experiment around with waiting less long. In the end, its often a case of trial and error to fine tune a particular technique or method to your own subjective way of sleeping and dreaming.

      Good luck!

I am going to try several different times and methods.
I alread have 2 LD's under my belt, but am willing to try the variations to ensure the LD's are regular.

I recently got up at 4am for 15 mins, and then went back to bed and tried to WILD.
I got beginnings of SP (Numb and hard to move) but couldn't get to sleep for well over an hour.
Was 15 mins too long, and should I have stayed in bed whaen I woke up for 2 mins instead?
I tried visualising a dreamscape for ages trying to get there, then tried to just let SP take over and blanked my mind, but I just seemed to be awake with my eyes closed the whole time.
At 5.40am i got up again and I am here writing this.
      Any ideas?

Actually, i've read that anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours is the recommended time. But as you progress, you'll find out that you have to do what works for you.
