Increasing Dream Vividness Through Visualization
I'm not positive that this is the correct forum to put this in, but here goes. Text in blue is the actual visualization.
Have you ever practiced your visualization skills while riding in a car? I find it to be a good exercise to aid in both visualization skills and the vividness of dreams. Of course, it helps if you are already well-enough accomplished at visualization not involving movement, such as the example Stephen LaBerge gives in his book, the toilet paper roll. What I like to do, though, is this: while riding in either the passenger seat or the back seat, start to visualize. It is important, for this particular method, to keep your eyes open. Focus on the road in front of you, perhaps a dozen or so yards in front of the vehicle. Then feel yourself separate from yourself, if that makes any sense, and glide out through the windshield before 'solidifying' and resting on the hood. Feel the metal beneath you, feel the wind in your face, smell the breeze.
Just sit there for a second, letting yourself feel everything, watching the trees/buildings roll by on either side of you. Then stand up. (Note that, at this moment, your physical eyes should still be open, taking in information, but you should be seeing from the perspective of your 'other body', on the hood. It isn't as difficult nor as weird as it sounds. Your mind is a powerful resource, and can quite accurately fill in things outside of your field of vision if you look around with your 'outside body'.) I find it generally best to, at this point, imagine myself barefoot. Also, so you'll be able to keep up, imagine yourself to be much stronger and faster than the average human.
Once you can feel the heat of the engine warming the soles of your feet, crouch, and jump off, in front of the vehicle, hitting the pavement running. Feel the wind hitting your face, ruffling your hair, feel the hard pavement under your feet as your bare skin slaps the road hard as you run, just faster than the car behind you. Feel your muscles working, feel how effortlessly they move. Feel how easy it is to run like this. Again, touch on each of your senses. Feel the pavement under your feet, the wind in your face. Hear the sound of the motor of the car right behind you, and the wind rushing past your ears. Smell the scents of the countryside, or city. Taste the air. See how colorful your surroundings are.
Then jump. Jump straight up, a good twenty feet. Do a backflip, and land gently on the top of your car. Feel the car's top give under your feet. Feel the exhilaration of it. Revel in the power you're feeling. Then maybe jump back off to run behind, around, or beside the vehicle. Or, if there is a handy pole, power line, or overhanging tree branch, jump up to swing on it before letting go to continue running. When you are ready to end the visualization, you can either hop back onto the hood or roof of the car and meld back into your body, or keep it simple and just blink your 'real' eyes, sort of turning it off.
This is what I do in the car now, if I'm a passenger. I've gotten to the point that I can keep up a conversation all the while, as well. All while vividly imagining, and feeling, myself running, jumping, and performing acrobatic acts outside the car. I haven't tried flying yet, but I have tried imagining myself on a speeder bike, as per Star Wars. I started it as an exercise to improve my visualization skills, and it has worked. I've also noticed that my dreams seem much more vivid since. I hope it can help some of you as well. Of course, this may be old hat to a lot of you, but perhaps it can help someone.
