Yes it is, It allows you to improve recall, having more vivid dream and thus making it easier to incubate a lucid dream.
Think of it this way... Wouldn't it suck to actually be having lucid dreams every night but not even being able to remember that you had them?
Keeping a dream journal is indispensable, particularly when trying to DILD. For me, not only is it necessary in maintaining dream recall and learning about my dreams, but also it is necessary to focus my intent. If I start to slack off on my DJ, then pretty soon I've stopped trying to LD period. The DJ makes LDing a discipline that requires commitment--and that is the only way LDing can be mastered.
Another thing. A month and a half is really not that long. It took me more than a year (on and off) to have my first LD. If you stick with it, you will LD.

ok thanks. guess ile start doing that then
you have tried everything to get a lucid dream, except keeping a dream jornal? thats like saying you have tried everything to get your car to work except putting gas in it. a dream jornal really is one of the most important parts. Without it its really hard to have a lucid dream.
I'm in the same position as you, I have not had a proper Lucid Dream yet and I have been trying for just a month. It is frustrating and seems like ages and at times I've thought 'I can't be bothered' but I'm sticking with it.
actualy my recall is getting quite good. i remember one or two dreams a night every single night.
Thats good, as long as your recall is good, you should have a good basis for lucid dreams.
I think dream journals are key. You'll notice that all of the best dreamers at this site have one. I think it's nice to go back and reread old dreams, especially the really fun ones. It keeps you motivated.
Yes, and reading old dreams is a good way to identify dream signs.
