"Yet another Breath closer to Dreaming"
allright. In addition to my Yogic Relaxation technique I made up this technique last night.
I've come to realise that failing WILD-like techniques is not so much to blame on "I just get whiped out when falling asleep" or "I can't concentrate" or "I can't this I can't that". I think it's more a matter of persistance to push on when the feeling of sleep is becoming really heavily confusing and delerious on your Mind. We usually are in a sort of lazy half-awake state in which; We Give Up!.. We're just to lazy to carry on thinking or being aware about anything at one point. Now this technique I figured out is all about persistance.
In the relaxation excersize you use your fantasy to imagine breathing in through your nose and breathing out tention from your ankles, then your knees, hips...etc
If you are thoroughly relaxed by this excersize you are probably more in need of a Concentration excersize to keep your Mind from dozing off into an unnoticed transition into deep, unconscious sleep.
The Technique:
If you've succesfully relaxed your body you can move on by Focussing on Breathing. However that is Sooooooo boring.
To make it a little more fun I thought this little line with every breath I took:
"Yet another breath closer to Dreaming"
Speak it our verbally in your Mind with every breath out, in, or in and out. Whatever works best for you.
That idea, of using my breath as a vehicle to get closer to my dreams step by step, motivated me much more to focus on my breathing. If any of you can figure out other ways to make breathing more easy/fun to focus on share your ideas.
But that's Basically it:-Focus on your Breath without distraction.
-Consciously think "Yet another Breath Closer to Dreaming" after every Breath
-Let that 1 thought be the only thought in mind and just keep thinking it untill you fall into a dream.
Now it all depends on what kind of Sleeper you are what works best.
I always find myself aware the one minute, as I'm nearing sleep and then BAM! In bed in the morning realising I had fallen into unconscious sleep without any recall of loosing consciousness. Sounds familiar to you?
In that case I guess this techniqe is worth a try for you since you would need alot of Concentration in order not to be sweeped away by sleep. Just try to think the line over and over way into dreamland and just don't give up saying it knowing the result will be rewarding if you persist.
