Deild?
I've tried two nights in a row, but when I wake up it takes me about two minutes to realise that I was supposed to try and DEILD. By then it's too late and I've moved about and perhaps forgotten my dream scene.
So, I was wondering, how do you remember when you wake up? I'd like people's successful methods please.

Having good recall greatly helps with DEILD.
You could try auto suggestion... like repeat "I will awake from my dreams and completely remember them, and when I wake up I will not move or open my eyes."
EDIT: If you remember your dream, you have a better chance of realizing that its ending.

It's when you wake up from a dream and immediately go back into it. You have about a three second window of opportunity and if you miss it then it's too late. It's basically a super-accelerated WILD.
Having good comprehension of dreaming helps out. While my dream is ending I almost always realized that it's a dream. Whenever it starts to fade away I know so if I can usually remember during that time that I want to DEILD. Usually when I wake up though I have to get up and piss :(

I have that problem alot to. Ill wake up and think i can fall back into a dream but i gotta pee. Or ill be trying to wild and i have to pee each time i try. Damn overactive bladder!

Ah, so you have to get lucky and realise it was a dream within 3 seconds of waking? That's irritating. It usually takes me at least 30 seconds :P

You could leave yourself a little reminder. Stick a piece of tape to the back of your hand or (if you can get to sleep like this) your face. When you wake up, you will probably feel the tape which should remind you why you stuck it on yourself which is DEILD.

Thanks arby. I'll remember that tonight.
I tried it last night; I repeated "I will wake up and remember to re-enter my dream," 5 times.
I woke up at half past 4, but sadly, I woke up due to someone going to the toilet. I remembered to DEILD instantly, but there was no chance due to the noise.
I'll try again tonight.

Whenever I find myself awake I keep my eyes close and let my mind wander. Then the dreams seem to come flooding back to me. So I write a few quick notes for later, without opening my eyes.

Well, with DEILD being my technique and all I guess it's only normal to give you some pointers that may lead to success.
You may want to consider downloading Brain Bullet, and creating your own preset to auto-suggest yourself to better comprehension upon awakening.
I also want to say, it really is not a 3-second window in which you are able to perform DEILD. I've also actually moved and opened my eyes before successfully performing a DEILD, so there is still angles to this technique left unexplored and obviously many variations to be made.
Explore if you need to, but Auto-suggestion really helps.
And if you move and/or open your eyes, still try to DEILD in the position you've moved into, never tell yourself "Well, there goes my opportunity!".
Also, another thing you may want to do is try to increase lucidity frequency, because It is much easier to perform a DEILD after a lucid dream, wherein you can easily recognize that you are waking up, and need to be still.

lmao arby,
you never cease to surprise me :] the tape idea could work but i think after sleeping for 4 or 5hrs with it on, you'll be so used to it being on you dont notice it. I'll try it though tonight.
