New technique of WILD, abtain lucidy..

Oh kay people.. last night, i was lay in my bed and i began to stare at my arm. The room was dark aswell, so i was staring at my arm, and my vision began to black out. At first i was scared, i thought i was passing out, So i turned over and faced the celing, and i stared in one place, not focosing on aneything, Just staring into space. And my vision went black again, so i just went with it. It was quite hard to keep it blacked out because my eyes kept twiching and moving, so eventually i got the hang of it, as my vision went black i focused my mind on the thing i wanted to dream about, not letting my mind ponder tho.. And before i knew it , coulors and cenery started to form around me, as objects got more solid and the world got more vivid, i jumped into my dream and stayed lucid for about 5 - 10 minutes, Probably because i focused my mind on the things i wanted to do in the dream. And not staying lucid.

Tecnique:

*Keep eyes open and relax body.

* focus on something like a light or your arm, and then take the focus off it but still be aware of what your looking at.

*wait untill vision begins to black out.

*Keep eyes open for a bit as you consontrait on what you want to dream about.

*then eventually your eyes might close, or you might have to do that yourself whilst your vision is still black and your mind is focused on your dream.

* then watch your dream become almost reality, and there you have it... A lucid dream.

Hey but when do u do this? like at wat period during the night? when u go to sleep o wat? lol

I know what you mean by the blacking out thing, the same thing happens if you just space out at an object during the day, however, it just turns very blurry and out of focus, however at night, since its dark, it turns black.

Anyway, how long do you have to do that? I always have to close my eyes, they start to sting and water... but maybe that wont happen in the dark? Anyway, how long did YOU have to do that?

I've experienced that blacking out thing. I have those ceilign starts that glow in the dark. I find that, if I blindly stare at them, it'll be like they aren't there anymore, just the black background..

You have to be pritty tired.. maybe try this at about, 11:30 PM.. and, the the period you have to do this for before your body falls asleep, is about 5 - 10 minutes, depending on how tired you are. Might vary for other peopel.. Just try it and see what happens.:D

Lol, well... I tried it. I stared up at my cieling (I have glow-stars from like 5 years back up there) and sure enough they kept fading and disapearing and fading back then disapearing, then I woke up. ^_^

Well Dream Boat, I have to sy this is pretty cool. Last night I attempted this and to my disbeleif, it worked. I looked at the shine of the moonlight off my bedside lamp, blinking every now and then, until eventually my vision kept fading in and out, and eventually it altogethor faded. At this time I began to feel as if my body were freefalling and I gave myself over to the sensation. I knew that it was working and I'd become lucid! I was picturing a gasoline pump for some reason and it was becoming pretty vivid, and my mind was forming it's own background/setting. Then, unfortunately, my eye twitched and it all faded away. DAMN!!! So i try a few more times, and once or twice I got my vision to black out again, but never the free fall sensation. Seems after the first time I couldn't keep my eyes from twitching. Still, I'll have to try this again.

haven't WILDed wit hHI yet though... I usually use breath on my DEILDs

When I was younger I used to fall asleep with my eyes open until the age of about 8 or 9. I would just look at one point, and when I woke in the morning, I wouldn't ever remember closing my eyes to fall asleep (so I guess my eyes dimmed as I fell asleep, and my eyes then closed after I was deep in slumber).

And I do remember that my dreams were far more vivid and my sleep much more restorative than what I experience today (I now close my eyes to sleep... but perhaps I'll try keeping them open now). Perhaps falling asleep with our eyes open is more natural?

I tried that today, and oh my god this technique is great, i had crazy dream, a lucid dream and almost a wild, but i got a question, how long does it take to black out to wild ?

I've tried it before I went to sleep - I can do the blackout thing in less then a minute, but then... nothing. I wanted to try it after few hours of sleep, and I tried it after 5 hours of sleep, but there was too much light to do it, so I tried to do my first WILD in the normal way (and I succeeded), if I wake up some time and it is still dark enough, I will definetly try it!
Btw when I did it I decided to try some day take this blackout thing to the next level, and try to walk around my home not seing anything - should be fun. And btw if you concetrate enough you can blackout, then close your eyes for a big period of time, and when you open them you are still seing only darkness. The whole thing is pretty cool!

HI is hypnagogic imagery, its images, sounds and other things that appear when you are begining to enter a dream (most time), example, you lay in bed waiting to fall asleep and suddenly you hear someone talking to you in a room, then you stand up and you realize that nobody is in your room, it was all in your head :)

Dream Boat, one of the conventional methods people use to achieve WILD involves lying still with your eyes closed, waiting for hypnagogic imagery (HI) to appear before your mind's eye. Many people, myself included, find it very difficult to relax enough while keeping their mind awake long enough to see HI. Your technique sounds like it facilitates the formation of HI, and I look forward to trying it. Roughly how long did you have to stare before your vision blacked out?

Well. What i mean by this is, (ENTER) your dream.. some people allow it to form around themselfs, others may like to grab it and drag it to there position, I like to See my dream in a picture or a miror or a tv.. and then jump through them into the dream.. Quite fun acctually.. You try it,

And it doesnt take long before your Vision blacks out.. if you keep your vision in one place without your eyes twiching, Then about 5 - 10 seconds.. You'll get the hang of it dont worry :D..

I did this during a nap, and yes everything did black out and I was in the dream and became lucid.

This is like clear light technique(bhuddhist), however it works better.

And does it work without WBTB?

The length of your REM cycles (and consequently the vividness of your dreams) depends on how long you've been asleep, not what method you use to WILD. It's much easier if you wake up in the middle of the night (or take an early afternoon nap), but some people have reported success with WILD when they first went to bed. lone, you must do it somehwre reasonably dark, but not pitch black.

Keep your eyes completely still (kinda hard but that's it)... It's gonna look like everything gets darker and darker... and then it all goes black


yes, at first only a few things will black out, but with practice (?) it will happen way easier

maybe it was because I wasnt that sleepy but my eye kept twitching... and it was hell keeping it still and it kept burning cause of the air.

dsr, without practice, it really does. But when you are comfortable, still, and about to sleep, it doesn't really bother. I once had to practice staying for several minutes withotu blinking for this exposition at school (it was like those living statues, but I actually had to pretend I was dead xD), so I'm used to it. It took me only one day or practice to get really good at it heh.

You don't have to have you eyes completely open. You want to have it confrontably open so your eyes don't go all red. If you are actively looking out of your eyes, instead of day dreaming then your doing it fine.

You should watch out of your eyes and then your in the dream.

You can blink alright and you can twitch. If your eyes hurt then close them a little, however do not close your eyes completely.

Well, I had my eyes semi open and it started to close and open. I then started to hear voices and then I blanked out and was in a vivid dream and then became lucid.

P.S. I have also tried this without wbtb and it is really strange. It is like you body gets bent like someone pushing energy into you, then everything blacks out. You don't dream, however you hear voices like you where just in talking to someone. Then again, sometimes you do dream.

The eye twiching is obviously common and is going to happen, try and focus your mind on somethings else. But still be aware of what you eyes are focusing on, if you keep your eyes open for a while, even if they start to sting (wich they will), then they will start to water, after that.. It's fine and will not sting aneymore.. Just keep going evrybody. Youw ill get the hang of it soon :D

but at what point do your eyes close? is it a conscious movement...or simply happens without you knowing?

I got that last night for the first time!
I was staring at the ceiling and I saw the usual sparks, blobs and circles i get when I close my eyes, fade in over the real things I was seeing.

My brain probably thought it was so dark, and since I was staring at a fixed point, that my eyes were closed.

And I had the first dream recall in a long time this morning, awesome, very realistic.

WILDs work much better with WBTB because your REM periods are longer and more vivid as your night's sleep progresses. When you first fall asleep, you barely dream.

I am most definitely trying this tonight.
I've known about vision blacking out forever. (It happens to me every night within a matter of seconds when I am first going to sleep), I've just never thought about using it to induce a lucid dream.

Sounds really good, might try tonight. :) I have experienced the blacking out before while doing the tricking your body to fall asleep but it faded back in after a few seconds.

It's kind of hard for me, I fell asleep without even knowing and so I didn't become lucid :?. Ill try tonight but focused on staying awake more and to stop my eyes from closing :eek:.

hey ive almost done that before! :) i was staring at nothing in my dark room and everything started blacking out. Then i got to the colors. I didnt even think to try and become lucid from it though :( it sounds like a very cool and unique technique :D

Ok, I've tried this once, and I can't stop blinking, to have my eyes even HALF open cause them to water and sting. But maby it'll be differant 2night.

Well I gave it a shot last night, and for a few minutes I could almost visualize a world forming before me, obscure lights and shapes and floating orbs and all that sort of thing, but alas I got too excited and woke up. I'm much more tired tonight because I stayed up most last night trying to go lucid so I might have a better chance tonight.

This technique worked great for me last night. Within a couple of seconds of staring, I felt the darkness close in and I was into a lucid dream that lasted for a good five minutes during my first REM sleep period.

wtf... meta... u lucky SOB. I have been trying hard before bed almost every night, and nothing.... It has to work before sleep. Dreamboat have u been able to do it before sleep? if not please try! I dont wanna do wbtb... I have school and I really need those 9 or so hrs of sleep and 5hrs isnt cutting it. Please everyone that got it to work please try it without wbtb :):)

ill type somethings that have been bothering me when doing this method and how to avoid them:

-your eyes start to smoulder too early:turn off the air conditioner or anything that is making the air circulate. If it is turned off and you have the same problem open them barely or practice no blinking.

-you loose tiredness (you have to be pretty tired): dont brush your teeth. wash your face or anything before bed , just go directly to the method.

and i have just 1 question:
when my eyes start to detect the blackout they have this reflex to move very little so the blackout has to start covering my vision again, and so on. How do i avoid this???

LOL. No, it is extremely difficult to enter a lucid dream upon first falling asleep. You need to be at your REM sleep period to achieve lucidity more easily and readily. You'll waste more time trying to WILD before bed than if you would just attempt it during the night. I have never WBTB ever. I am just too tired to get out of bed. I woke up at like 4:00 AM (without getting out of bed) and said, "What the hell, I'll try WILDing", and I tried the technique and it worked.

So, do you have to fall asleep and wake up to make this work? Or can you go to bed at night and do it right away? Thanks!

just do it when going to bed, you dont have to wake up or anything, but you have to be very tired

Wow. I am amazed at all of this, Come to think that this could even be an official technique for inducing lucidity. I didnt realise it was so effective. Im glad that it's working for evrybody..

So heres the thing:
It may be differ for different People.. The technique is best affective around Daylight hours, when your really tired. so try doing this if you randomly wake up during the early hours of the morning. Wich you often do, but you dont remember it becasue your so tired. You just wake up randomly then turn over and go back to sleep. Or set an alarm for a certain time depending on your REM cycle. Or like alot of you have mensioned, and has worked very effectivly for me. Try this during WBTB!!... Thanks evrybody, keep posting!... :D -Dream-Boat-...

I can never keep my eyes open for this. They always start to sting and twitch while I try and keep them open. I have no idea how anyone's able to do it. My eyes are drying out, and I really want to get an LD. How do you people do it?

I havent had a successful WILD yet but have been lucid. This technique worked for soo many people and looks promising soo im gona try now and post tomaro and tell u guys how it worked

well, tried last night to do this technique. I am sick tho so I don't know if that affected anything, maybe just made me more tired. Anyways the blackness came on realy quick, like 10 seconds as Dream Boat said. It was kinda hard to get the blackout in the first place cause concentration on one spot without twitching is hard. The problem I had once i blacked out tho is that there is nothing to look at to keep my eyes from twitching... Should I just close them??

If anyone who has successfully done it can give me some feedback that would be great

Tried it last night. About 8:30 in the morning. Got the blackout and SP aswell. Didnt work. Why does mom have make so much noise when opening a door?
But, it made me have a DILD though. (Wich only lasted for about 5 seconds..)
I'll set my alarm for 5 ish tonight. Hopefully it works then :D

omg i think i almost did this once without meaning to

i was home from school sick so i was REALY tired and im like ok im going to try to wild but back then i thought you had to keep your eyes opend when you wild( i know better now) well after a while things started blacking out a little.. then a little more till it got to the point were if i blinked or refocused my eyes i would be over half blacked out in like 2 sec

the only problem im haveing now with it is that my eyes are fighting it.... they are moving randomly every few min so that im not blacked out anymore

wow I cant believe I yet to have this work. I planned to FILD last night and my alarm didnt go off :( I woke up naturally after 5hrs of sleep. I figured why not try. I stood there and took awhile to keep my vision blacked out. When it did I imagined I was at my desk at school and then, Nothing. My eyes wouldnt close by itself. it was trying to open alittle untill my eyes kept twitching. I dont understand whats so hard. His teq is a little of VILD/Wild because when you close your eyes your thrown in a VILD.
