Ok guys, I have a somewhat dumb question. I keep reading on DV about how its easy to get a LD once you've gotten SP.
So, last night I experienced SP (and some "vibrations") while attemping WBTB. I get excited and start thinking "ok, focus. focus. Get lucid, now" or something along those lines. But the whole scenario is hazy and blurry, and soon after I lost the SP.
So really, how do you get to lucid dreaming from sleep paralysis, or is it something that's supposed to come naturally?
Are you sure that you didn't dream that you lost SP. I did a WILD last night in which I thought that I lost the dream. I only realized later that it was a false awakening because what I had written on my DJ disappeared.
Sometimes you just won't enter a dream, it's arbitrary and not uncommon. Try again on another night.
I have been getting this same problem. It feels like I'm right there on the edge of a dream and I get this falling sensation, but then I think I just get too excited because it starts to slowly fade away. I'm sure that I'm not just going into a dream because I usually do a RC after this sensation disappears.:? Anyone know how I can get past this feeling and into the dream? Is it just a matter of calming myself down once I start feeling vibrations?
You're right. It could just be I had a false awakening. But even then, I'm still not entirely sure how to get to a lucid dream from sleep paralysis. Is there a set routine one should follow during or after SP to facilitate getting into a LD state?Quote:

Wait until your thoughts try to randomize. Try visualization. Think of an object, like a book. Start with appearance. Size, color, age, thickness, title, position. Then think about the other senses. I think you get the primary purpose of the exercise, but there is a dual purpose: to take your mind off your real body. People always focus on the body. "Am I in sleep paralysis yet?" No. You have to entertain the mind with other things. If, when counting breaths (or whatever), you can't stop thinking about sleep paralysis sensations, try visualization methods.
Hypnagogic Sleep Paralysis - I think when you reach this stage of SP it really is more about keeping awareness that you are falling to sleep, that your body is becoming paralysed and you know that you need to go with it, but be relaxed enough for you to enter a lucid dream, but not too relaxed to fall to sleep - It is a difficult one to catch as there is a very small window here from when your body falls to sleep and you get to the transitional period of consciousness being awake, to consciousness and being asleep (lucid). With time and practice you can learn to notice your bodies changes and when you are falling to sleep. For me when in Hypnagogic SP I always force my body to shift and move and get lucid this way, because I know my body is ready for sleep and the sensation of the shifting keeps my mind awake enough to enter a lucid dream.
Hypnopompic Sleep Paralysis - This is a lot easier than the above, for me when in Hypnapompic SP it is really just a matter of realisation that it is just Sp and that you are still asleep and your mind has just awaken before your body, and simple just to roll out of your body and into a lucid dream. I think this is where a lot of people think they have an OBE because certainly for me when I roll out of my body from Hypnopompic SP I always become lucid in my room, where I have been sleeping and is a very weird feeling for the first couple of times, but when you get used to it, it becomes easier and you never fail to become lucid.
