      So I've read about a couple of techniques as to how you can fall asleep faster and get through the whole process of falling asleep faster.

      Reverse blinking, Relaxation Techniques and Meditating are the 3 techniques that come to Mind immediately.
      But I thought maybe we could combine these techniques with others, older and new ones, into 1 technique that induces a really deep sleep-like state very fast. like within 10 minutes being at least 9/8th part of the way into deep entrancing sleep. I m,ean like a technique that Really instantaniously shoots you deep into a sort of Significantly Deep sleep/trance state. Like

      We could use this technique to access & explore the Dream state of Mind at anytime of the day. Maybe even while daydreaming in a boring classroom.

      Let's put some of these tiny entrancing techniques in a list.
      -Reverse Blinking
      -Tensing all your Muscles and then relaxing them to feel the difference one by one
      -Meditation/Making the Mind blank, calm and (near)empty of thoughts.( This can be done by sitting in Lotus posture and coming to Mental and Physical peace, but also Dancing, Drawing, Singing, Playing a music Instrument can work very meditative. Your personal approach will always work best.
      -Attention Foucussing techniques using external Stimuli(Auditory:Music, Tactile:Cool Balm on the Skin, Olfactory:Sleeping surrounded by certain odors..etc these are just examples)
      -Temporary Sleep Deprivation: Being VERY VERY tired due to lack of Sleep and THEN finally going to sleep. The extreme sleepyness and drowsyness after having been sleep deprived where you have to yawn every minute, tears roll from your eyes and your eyes are amazingly hard to keep open. That sleepyness is a remarkably deep state of Sleep Trance.
      -Herbs that Make the Mind awakened/Sharp and focussed while it relaxes you as well.(Mint Tea, small amounts of Marijuana or Hashis, small amounts of Magic Mushrooms, Dreamherbs like African Dream Root and Calea DreamHerb...etc)
      -Certain enchanting ''Magical'' Music that inspires Emotions and Imaginations ( For me that'd be Ambient Music like: Shpongle, Vibrasphere, Amon Tobin, Enya, but also Spiritual Metal like Tool or System of a Down sometimes also SKA as I find it's pulsating rythm truly Entrancing. Just listen to what works best that way for you. )
      - Changing your Bed and Bedroom into an enchanting place of Peace and spirituality.
      - Having someone give you a pre-bedtime Massage: This works about best for me. I'm quite a Physical person and I get very tranced out if I am Massaged. I can go straight into sleeptrance withing 5 minutes after a good massage.
      - Having some good Sex. Masturbation works too for gthe Physical relaxation it gives afterwards, but Actual Sex works better because it works more apleasing mentally and will make you mentally calm as well. Very calm and tranced out.
      - Staring into nothing while spending time in deep deep thought (most natural and common way deep dayly trances come)
      - Spending time in a Darkened room. The more darkened the better: Pitchblack rooms lead to total disorientation, A shifting of Awareness from your Physical world to your Mental, ''Thought-World'', Sleepyness&Dreamyness due to the dark Stimulating your Brain to Produce the Sleep-Regulating hormone Melatonin after about an hour)
      - Optimising Physical Comfort.[/b]
      Help me expand this list and put some of these things together into a Technique that might help us Inducing a Sleep-like State instantaniously at will. Feedback would be nice. Any Creative suggestions and Ideas on this Topic from you are most Welcome.

      Sounds like a good, constructive idea.
      Its great to see so many new ideas around here.
      I would think some... but ..err im really tired and going to sleep.
      Anyway, reverse blinking + slowily counting my breaths out puts me right to sleep in class.
      I never really dream in thoughs small 10minute school naps though.
      By the time i get to about 15 i dont want to open my eyes.
      By the time i get to about 30breaths i spaceout for a few seconds and keep loosing count. This is when i can laydown and poof. No more math class.

      jk, I really want this thread to pan out.
      I have an idea that I think could work... But it will involve a hypnotist.
      What if you have a hypnotist put you into a trance, then force to dream up a situation in your head, then make it so that everytime you hear the keyword you'll start to day dream of that situation? Or, make it so that you dream about it, every night through hypnotic suggestion.

      PS: seriously, Anesthesia was used by the Incas. Shamans chewed cocoa leaves and drilled holes in the heads of their patients (to let the bad spirits escape) while spitting into the wounds they'd inflicted. The mixture of cocaine, resin and saliva numbed the site allowing hours of drilling.

      though I think whatever technique is offered, it still might need some pre-technique to go with it. like some sort of relaxation, or even exercise *depending on your lifestyle* before going to sleep. reason why is, a lot of insomniacs like me sometimes cant fall asleep becuase of too much activity in the day or too little.

      At times I am very restless and can't get to sleep or it'll take at least rediculously long. Therefor a Technique like this could be extra handy.

      A hypnotist can Put someone into an Instant Sleep state of Trance using Hypnotic Suggestions that you suddenly feel very tired and will fall asleep very fast. Maybe a recording of a Hypnotic Voice to which you listen and follow instructions. I have such an MP3 on my MP3player and it works really well getting me into SP withing 5 minutes max. and asleep withing half an hour or so. So if this works, I guess it is well possible to make it work faster. The Hypnosis-MP3 I mentioned does not pull you into a deeper trance then nececairy 'cause then it will change subject and start talking about Visualisation and Imagination in respect to Lucid Dreaming.

      Maybe we could Record something much like it. Only then a Hypnosis that is completelty focussed on leading you into very deep pre-sleep states very fast. It'd be a good idea to relax well beforehand. A cup of Tea, Half a Joint for those of us that live in the Free Country, Darkness and some relaxing ambient Music.
      Maybe a good Idea to make a Hypnosis MP3 with 3 minutes of enchanting Ambient music as intro to the Hypnotic Voice. It might work good to open you up for the Hypnosis beforehand.

      Another Idea is to record the Hypnotist's voice and add a bunch of Reverb effect on the Recorded sound to make it sound echo-ish as if spoken in a great, wide hall. Then speak for like 10 Minutes or maybe a bit longer. 15 minutes max. And as the time progresses slowly add more and more strange effects to the sound of the voice, but very Subtly and Gradually to make it sound like you're falling ''farther away'' and hearing everything more and more distant every 30 seconds. Just the way you would hear your enviroment's noise when really falling asleep. Like it starts talking slower and slower, With a gradually lowering Tone and something like gradually increasing Flanger over the Voice should do the Trick. This gives a very strong suggestion that you're almost alseep and may help making you actually believe it. You're more lyable to believe such things and pick up on them when your sense of Logics and Reasoning start fainting away more and more every minute: This is exactly what happens in the time between closing your eyes and being just about to fall asleep. I think this is why a song can get stuck in your head for DAYS when you've been listening it in that time just in between Waking and Sleeping. You're more open then and it gets ''printed' into your subconscious mind.

      Let's hope this works the same for hypnotic suggestions like these, or for Lucid Dream Induction Hypnosis techniques.

      How about that? I am able to record and mix some of those Hypnotic suggestions + make some entrancing Music to go with it. I will do that soon with some friends of mine who are interrested in these matters too. But if any of you can and want to give this a try recording something that would be nice.

      Hypnosis can be used to create a trigger that should bring about the desired effect instantly - e.g. 'sleep'!
      Not sure of the details - but I know a hypnotherapist so I'll ask them next time I see them. Can't face Googling it at the moment as I am feeling sleepy!

      Also watching something swinging like the hypnotist's watch or UniversalMind's spiral! Or even a kids mobile hanging over the bed. I remember reading somewhere that dreamcatchers functioned a little like mobiles for native american kids.

      If you live somewhere its not illegal (like the moon?), then Opium - perhaps homeopathic for th rest of us?
      Wild lettuce, valerian etc - there's a long list of reputed relaxants/soporifics/narcotics...

      A full and varied day that includes exercise for the mind and body.

      Well the only drug I would recommend for making a good start getting entranced before you begin would be Marijuana. And then VERY little. Maybe half a joint and no more. Cuz Opium, Marijuana in higher quantities, Alcohol..etc have the effect of making you fall alseep too fast, too deep and with little to no dreams as these Depressants surpress REM-sleep. I want to be able to induce a deep trance CONSCIOUSLY. like a hypnosis. Half a joint might work good as it doesn't leave you with no dreams, but still relaxes you nicely and makes your Dreams Slightly more Psychedelic and Intense.

      Maybe I can find someone who can entrance People. Either a Hypnotists or a Spiritualist. As long as I know them via friends and not in a business way. I don't wanna do business, but MindScience. Maybe I can find someone for this.

      You could always just
      Stand up
      Bend over with your head below your waist
      Take 50 deep breaths
      On the 50th hold it and stand straight up as fast as you can
      Then have someone grab your neck and cut off the blood to your brain.

      You will be out within a few seconds and drug free to boot! You will probably wake up with a terrible hangover though.

      I know what you Mean. I saw Jackass too. I did that with a couple of friends one day. Untill I realised that Oxigen Deprivation of the Brain can lead to serious BrainDamage.

      But I guess the &#39;&#39;kneel down, inhale/exhale quickly 50 times, get up Fast and stand still&#39;&#39; part of that trick might work well for an instant buzz. Known as Headrush, when all blood suddenly rushes away from your head it makes you feel Really dizzy, faint and near passing out sometimes.

      Dancing works meditative but also puts you into an Active mood. I guess It would be a good part to this Ritual to dance very fanatically till you&#39;ve exhausted yourself, then sit kneeled and catch a breath for about 5 minutes, then getiing up again to dance very fanatically. Repeat process.

      Maybe this and then the final &#39;&#39;Sleep&#39;&#39; Ritual. The Final sleep ritual could be done either in bed ( for actually falling asleep unconscious ) or while sitting in Lotus Posture. In any case maybe it would be a good idea to First start breathing very deep and very fast for about a minute or 2, followed up by Breathing very gently, inhaling almsot no air; just enough oxigen. This would be pretty much like a relaxation technique where you first tense all the muscles in your Neck and face and then Relax them all. Then move up to your Torso, arms, legs..etc. You will feel the difference. For me this works Really well. Breathing Fast and Deep resembles the way a Panicking person would Breathe. Breathing Slow and modest is the way the relaxed man breathes.

      Can you people help me find more of these things that give on when someone&#39;s relaxed or stressed?
      Like Stressed people breathe fast and deep while relaxed ppl breathe slow and gentle.
      Like Stressed people have their Muscles tensed and relaxed ppl have their muscles relaxed.
      ...etc Help me out.



      And maybe another thing to add to the Hypnosis MP3. About 5 minutes long of extremely Chaotic, busy, mindfucking, disturbing Noize followed up by a sweet calm serenity like ambient rythm. This way the DIFFERENCE between peace & Chaos is noticed best and a peacefull moment only feels REALLY Peacefull when it comes after a Day full of Chaos. Like a Sunny day is only REALLY a sunny day if the last 3 days were rain and thunder. I think the REAL way to fully experience something like Peace, Relaxation, Serenity, Euphoria...etc is to FIRST experience the opposite of it.

      That mp3 idea sounds really good. I read that your into listening to Tool and System Of A Down which I definatly listen to to help me get to bed. If I were you though I&#39;d listen to Dream Theater. amazing prog metal band and they have a lot of stuff that is light then followed by a few minutes of crazy shit and on top of that they have songs that can reach up 45 minutes in length.

      I had no idea that was on jackass. I did that to some kids at school about 15 years ago. They would always go out like a light, although at the time I was worried about them not waking up.

      I think you can create what you are looking for with the MP3 by using BWGEN. It allows you to put in whatever frequencies you want, so you could start it out at a very high freq and bring it down to a low freq. If you looked into it, you could actually research and find out what frequency brainwaves are at when people are under stress and use that as your starting frequency, and end it at a frequency common with REM sleep.

      Just a suggestion.

      Listening to hypnose-mp3:s makes me extremely relaxed and I&#39;m ready to fall asleep quickly. I listen for about 5-10 min and then I&#39;m off within just a minute.

      Massage before bed also helps me a lot. If I find anybody who&#39;s willing to do it

      I find listening to the external sound an easy way to do it, and then start listening to the <strike>voices</strike> Sounds in my head along with the outside ones, that takes my mind off sleeping,and then I fall asleep

      Massage before bed also helps me a lot. If I find anybody who&#39;s willing to do it [/b]

      Okay I just had another approach I thought of.
      More using teh Mind and it&#39;s Imaginairy capacity. Training it&#39;s Imaginairy Foccussing capacity.

      Imagine being tired after a hard day around 4 o&#39; clock in the afternoon and dropping down on bed before dinnertime and having a short Day dream.I mean like being awake, with your eyes closed, and a littlebit entranced into deep thoughts and visual imaginations and fantasies. DayDreams seem to me as a pretty good start to enter dreams consciously. Usually what you see is scrambled images, impressions, sounds and all random, unrelated, sense-lacking imaginations.

      When I am upset about something in my life and I go off daydreaming I usually have these mad visual story-like imaginations about what my Feeling wants to do about the situation. In case I hate someone I&#39;ll imagine how I would Kick the bejesus out of him, or how I&#39;ll poison him with something Deleriant making him go totally mental. I am a little strange I know. But not any less strange than you are, just a little more Creative in my ways of imagining. These are desires people sometimes have, emotional stresses and Daydreaming about Brutalising someone and beating him serverely are sort of a mental Ventilation for that Hate sensation.
      But not only about hatred. Sometimes in Love and Dispair too. I remember having been upset abou how people aren&#39;t open, comitted, true and warm towards one another but so Cold, selfish and Isolated instead. When I would daydream in such a MindState I would get very clear and vivid storyline-like daydreams where I would in front of people Get wings and open up a whole in the Sky unleashing a storm of Spiritual lights, shapes and colors so they would be impressed and convinced by the beauty of our bizarre Reality and hopefully it&#39;ll Bring some warmth into their hearts. That is clearly an imagination of my Subconscious mind. The way I would do things if I had absolute freedom and no conscequences for anything I do.

      Now usually while I&#39;m DayDreaming I am very close to the Surface of being fully aware, JUST a little under it maybe, Easily distracted and pulled out of my DayDream.

      Now if we could develop an Ability to be able to &#39;&#39;involve yourself deeper&#39;&#39; in your daydream so that we can enter a deeper and deeper state of dreaming-sleep all while staying conscious. And if you don&#39;t you will at least fall asleep into a Dream Rediculously fast.

      Anyone any ideas as to how we can strengthen our awareness to give that DayDream our almost Full attention, as if it&#39;s the only thing there, the only awareness of that moment? How to Focus on DayDreams better so that you can get really involved into it like as in a dream?

      This is another "trigger type" just without the hypnosis:
      (I have not tried this with SP/HI, but I have with emotions like calm and relaxed)

      Wait until you are in a deep state of relaxation(this can also be done by thinking about a relaxing time/place), then do something like closing your eyes very tight three times. Repeat the process about 10 times (at your own leisure, this doesn&#39;t need to be all at once.) This will make a correlation in your brain between the two actions (Ex: closing eyes very tight three times=relaxation) so that whenever you close your eyes tightly three times you become relaxed. For SP you might need to do someting like a certain thought instead of an action because you can&#39;t move your body without losing SP.

      This is the same thing as when every time you ring a bell you give your dog a treet, so that eventually when you ring a bell the dog will immediatly think he/she is getting a treat

      I can&#39;t claim this technique as my own, I read it a very long time ago on some site I can&#39;t remember the name of right now. Please don&#39;t look at this as plagarism, besides it in my own words not direct quotes.

      EDIT: Don&#39;t forget that this isn&#39;t an instintaneous technique. Although it only takes about ten times with me, it will vary among people.

      What puts me to sleep is breathing very slowly sometimes or even playing a film in my head( yes making something up) and viewing it, very fun actually and if you focus on it (not too hard) you relax and fall asleep. It can also helpto build up your imagination and could put you in a dreamscape which is similar.

      Doesn't sex produce a hormone with stimulative effects? I'd recommend against it if you want immediate sleep. Try 30 minutes prior, instead, if you, er, feel the urge.

      Another good idea is to turn the lights low at least a half hour before bed. Light naturally keeps the mind awake.

      Also, anapanasati works well. For me, at least, when I wish to clear the mind.

      I do this sometimes, and it works very well:

      Think of the most random, impossible things you can, and don't stop until you will eventually just fall asleep. For example, you might say, "There are purple fish with 3 eyes walking down Broadway which has a giraffe named Arnold on top of the Empire State Building. He's going to skydive off with a spoon as a parachute that has 6 wings on it to glide him down onto the trampoline with chicken wings on it... etc." You will fall asleep pretty fast, and it might incubate into your dream, so you could have an absurdity in your dream to trigger an LD.
