WILD positions.
I have been practicing WILDs for some time now, and been experimenting with ways of lying down when trying. Typically I thought lying on your back is the since qua non of a successful WILD. But I have also experimented lying in all other positions and have found I can achieve a successful WILD in other positions. Although lying on my back is still the best way for me I can WILD either on my back or side, achieving a WILD within 5-10 minutes and 20-30 minutes respectively, predominately though I do try on my back.
So wondered what the general consensus was here on DV, and how people attempt their WILDS? I think some people might not have the success they would like because they try in a way which does not make them comfortable, or because they think it has to be done in a specific way?
So vote away - I have made the poll flexible for multiple options of choice, because like me, some people might WILD in more than one position.

I've been trying on my back, simply because thats what I read everywhere.
I recently tried on my front (how I usually sleep) and I think I got closer.
I've never successfully WILDed yet though so I don't think I should vote, I don't know what position is best for me yet.

Even though I haven't gotten past the hypnagogic/sp stage yet I have gotten alot closer by using my ordinary sleeping position, which is on the side.
Lying on my back is just not comfortable enough for me.

I have been working on a technique which has allowed me to WILD in any position. I will be trying on my front next to see if that works.

I won't vote yet because i have yet to WILD. but last night I got as far as getting numbness in different parts of my body, and then normal feelings kept coming back, thus no progress.
I think its when my body twitches. I know everyone says that its your body seeing if your brains asleep, but i really jolt when I twich, so does that count as a reaction to my body? cus if so I'll never be able to WILD!!!
I'm trying it on my side tonight.

Weird - I always assumed that when your body twitches this is because you have not yet reached SP and that your mind was slowly falling to sleep and acting out when you are dreaming, no matter how light that might be.
This is the reason for SP - to make sure we don't act out our dreams.
-
Well it was bloody irritating! lol. It got so bad that after about an hour and a half or so I got fed up with thinking this twiching is fooling my body (the wrong way :( ) and went to sleep. I didn't have a dream at all last night, only this morning when i went to sleep again, and I've only just remembered it.
Last night was crap.

I prefer trying to WILD while on my stomach.
I put my arms under my pillow or cross them under my chest. When my arms start to go to sleep I know the rest of my body will soon follow.

Almost all my spontaneous WILDs have happened while I'm lying on my right side. But never, as far as I can remember, has it happened when I'm on my back.
