      Waking up naturally

Last night I woke up at about 3:00 AM, because of the context of a dream I was having. I instantly tried to FILD... And though it didn't work, I got really close. I feel that if I get another chance, I'll be able to pull it off. So how can you train yourself to wake up without an alarm clock?

You could wake up with an alarm for a few days, then don't use the alarm. You will most likely wake up at the same time because you've gotten used to it. This happened to me.

Also tell yourself as your going to sleep that you will wake up after every dream. This worked really well for me, I wake up 4 or 5 times a night and usually remember the dream I was having better than if I slept right through. After a few days I didn't need to tell myself to do it anymore, I just wake up naturally now.

One way which I learnt to do this is by setting an alarm for the first few nights, then almost training yourself to get up without it. Our bodys have an internal body clock, which is pretty much in sync with real time, so with auto-suggestion and some practice you should be able to do this.

I find now I don't even need an alarm for work as I always get up at the right time in the week

Thanks guys. I'll try that, though I don't think that waking up at 3 in the morning would have a positive affect on my grades, so I'll wait until the weekend. Also, if you do wake up after every dream, does it make you tired during the day as opposed to just sleeping?

If you don't wish to set an alarm during the night (and if it wouldn't hurt your FILD attempt to get out of bed), other members have tried drinking lots of water right before bed in the hopes that they'll wake up during the night to empty their bladder.
