I'm going to pray to a banana entity named Alfred.
Isn't this basically a CDFILD, with a little twist of asking?
Will try this when I go to bed.
Tonight is DILD night, so I'm trying this tonight!
Wish... no, pray for me to have luck. ;)
"All hail Alfred, the omni-everything banana God who grants me the dreams of lucidity."
My opening prayer line. :D
Banana whore! You gotta praise Jesus man!
Yes you do...
Or Eric Clapton.
Hey, hey! Don't go Popeing me.
Well, I'm off to test out this little method. I will do a good, minute or so prayer to something requesting lucidity, length, vividness, and content for my dreams.
I'll report on how it goes tomorrow.
Good night, sweet dreams, don't let the bed bugs bite, say your prayers.
Well... don't expect results from me tonight. :(
I can't get to sleep at all, so I'll only get around 6 hours of sleep tonight. Just laid in bed for 40 minutes. :P
I forgot to, was too sleepy :O
Lol at first I thought this was some sort of religious ranting, but now that I think of it, it sounds completely logical. Praying can be a really good way of MILDing. I'm atheist myself but I don't think this technique works by having a god bless you with a lucid dream, so I'm all up for it ^^
I'll pray for Eris the goddess of Discordia.
It worked! I prayed to the dreamviews gods (a set of gods I made up on the spot) and I got a lucid! I didn't think it would work but it did. Yes!
Woo I got a lucid last night after praying for a little before bed! Although it was after I slept 4 hours, stayed up for 5, then slept for another 3. But regardless, that was my first Lucid that lasted more than 30 seconds ever! :boogie: (Aside from the nightmare I had when I was young and knew I was dreaming)
When I said the prayer I said it to anyone who could help me, be it dream guide, God, higher self, anyone. I know it's probably just because your placing this into your subconscious, but I think about lucid dreaming all the time and I barely ever get any results. Yet this worked first try...so who knows, maybe there is something to this. I'm gonna try again tonight.
Haha this actually worked for me too. I'm going to use this method tonight.
Haha, this is working for everybody!
To make sure I can sleep tonight, I'll take some melatonin. :D
REM rebound plus prayer must mean lucid, right?
Yeah, I have more success with lucid dreams if I pray. Though I started doing this before I saw this post. Last night, after praying, I was able to meet my female spirit guide for the first time. Even though I didn't see her because my vision was completely blacked out, I managed to hold a short conversation with her, and remembered to ask her name and if she was my spirit guide.
Her name is Anita. =]
Lot more insistant than my male guide. All I have to do is reach out to her, or say her name, and she grabs me and pulls me into a sitting position. Several times, she had to do that, because for some reason I kept laying back down.
Normally the male guide makes an appearance on my left side, but this Anita popped up on my right, and slightly in front of me. So it was a different experience than usual. But a good one all the same.
I am a fervent believer in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and struggling disciple (there is a difference between believer and disciple). I don't like this topic at all. Jesus is the only one worth praying to.
I will ask my Lord to help me though, (done it before) as He is the giver of all good gifts. Maybe it's His will I have my first (good) LD tonight. Hope so!
Okay, I think it's great that you have a strong interest about your savior Jesus Christ but you don't have to type in Jesus Christ is Our Only Lord... Typing in my only lord would be much better because it might get a little offensive to those who don't believe that Jesus Christ is their savior...
I'm going to try that CDFILD technique tonight... The last three nights I tried WILD and I can't even get to SP...
It didn't work tonight though =/ Maybe it's just a Placebo...or maybe I prayed wrong? lol
Technically there's no wrong way to pray. Well, unless you call Jesus your "homeboy on the stick"...I don't think he'd appreciate that.
But anyway, it doesn't always work. I found out that the best way is to just lay there before going to sleep, and just start whispering as if I'm having a conversation with God. I imagine myself out laying in the middle of nowhere, speaking up at him as if he's looking down at me through the clouds, and could just reach down and poke me if he wanted to.
I find that using this method, I often drift into my own little world, where even though I realize that I'm still laying there in my bed staring at the roof, it's like I can actually see what I'm picturing in this little "daydream" and my room just fades away.
Yet it's not quite a lucid dream or anything like that.
Once you stop praying and having a chat, you're sort of left like "Oh...wow...I was really out of it there." And if you're blessed with the gift of tears, it's an even more memorable and special moment between you and God.
I bring up various topics with him, explain how I see something, and then just explain the other side of the argument and such. Like, I might bring up the topic of homosexuality, or what I should be doing with my life, whether the church is heading in the right direction.
I find that instead of just asking God for things, and if I have a conversation with him, he's more willing to reward me with the things that I eventually do ask for. And when I recieve the gift of tears, it's almost a confirmation that he has heard me and is willing to grant me my requests.
More often than not, when I recieve that gift, I usually have a lucid dream or get what I have requested.
Alright, first and foremost, not everyone holds the same views you do. So don't say your lord is other people's lord or they will get offended (just like I did).
Secondly: the aim of this thread is to talk about an induction technique. Let's not turn this into a religious argument. Some people fail to realise that there is much more beyond their own opinions.

@ everyone else:
I totally forgot to do it last night xD Guess that I just never consider praying before sleep lol. Shall remember it today.
I've watched this for a while. I don't like where it's going.
It appears that we can't discuss praying as a lucid aid without it turning to a religious discussion. Take it to The Lounge guys.
EDIT: I've reopened this thread due to request, but just keep it to prayer in general. If there is more discussion of specific deities I will close it again.
