WILD w/o WBTB Method

I have figured out how to goto bed doing WILD, and maintain conscienceness into deep sleep and stay conscience.

Although, I have never gotten a lucid dream from doing this, I have successfully been conscience for 2 hours after going to bed.

I use this now for WBTB WILDS too.

Here is my working method:

1.) While falling asleep, count and imagine the numbers as you see them. But count up and down randomly.

For example... You would count 1,2,3,4,5,6,5,4,3,4,5,6,7,6,5,6,7,8,9,8,7

I usually go up like 7 numbers, go down 3, then continue up to say 10.

Eventually I am near 100, and my body is asleep.

This really takes much more concentration then just counting up continually, and seems to work better.

Interesting, but why would you want to stay conscious during deep sleep? Besides the fact that it would take hours to reach the first REM period for your lucid dream, the first REM periods are short - meaning your LD's would be short as well.

Ive read that some researchers believe that you actually dream in that stage of sleep, you just do not remember it.

I wanted to see if he was right. It appears that he is not.

Also, it is a very large accomplishment to be able to keep your mind awake during that stage. I wanted to see if I could do it.

Its very peaceful, and its a nice place to think about things while normally you would be out cold.

I have been lucid a few times from going straight to sleep, so it is possible, and they are not short, they are just as long as all my other lucid dreams.

Unless I am reading this wrong, sounds to me like you were just awake for 2 hours? I am conscious till I fall to sleep too... :?

I think he's talking about where you're asleep but you're not having a dream, you're just kind of.. thinking. I've had the same thing happen before.

Stupidity

Ive done this before with mixed feelings about the results, on one hand it is a good state to think and plan but I found it's not restful at all.

Sounds Great!

I love the random counting thing. My problem is that if I'm counting I don't really need to think about it while I do it and my mind wanders off and I fall asleep. This would definitely keep my mind from wandering. Anybody have any results yet?

Hmmm...sounds rather interesting. WILDing without WBTB has always interested me.

Yeah, I am just awake but my body is asleep. It always ends up being painful for the SP, then I quit.

But how do you even know you're in deep sleep, and not just laying there awake? Are you unable to move or something? Have you tried moving?

I don't think I've ever experienced SP, that's why I ask.

It feels different then being awake, just like lucidity feels different.

They are all different brain waves.

Also my SP feels like I cant move but I can if I really really try. I know I am there when my body feels super heavy, and it feels like I am moving soooo fast.
