I go to bed at about 12:30 every night, so when I do the WBTB method I wake up at 6:30 there is lots of noise outsite (birds chirping, dogs barking etc.) so I cant get back to sleep. Would it work if I got up at 3:30 am instead and went back to bed at 4:30? or is that not enough time?
it might not be enough because your more lengthy rem cycles start after 5-6 hours of sleep. but there is a chance that it would work, give it a shot. good luck!!
Yeah, go ahead and try. :D Couldn't hurt.. it's very possible to LD early in the night, it just won't last as long.
Try sleeping earlier. Then you'll be set to wake up at 4:00 am or something and still catch those long REMs. :)
What a coincidence, a couple nights ago I went to bed at 1230 too and woke up at 630 also to do the WBTB method. Only problem was I couldnt fall back to sleep!Quote:

The key for me seems to be getting into prolonged REM while it is still dark outside. I guess the dawn, with all of it's noises like people driving down the road, birds chirping, dog and so on disturb my sleep.
That said, it is best for me anyway to get in bed around 10:30 or so, that way, my most active REM period starts at about 4:30 am which gives me about 2 hours or so.

That does actually help me. As long as its dark I can usually get to sleep if Im really tired, so I'll try that tonight!
