DILD was in my grasp, but...

i was trying the DILD last night, so i was repeating the "I will realize i am dreaming...". sure enough, in my dream, i was at school and one of my friends was mimicking me saying "I will realize i am dreaming..." and laughing. well, as it turns, out i never ended up realizing. im pretty mad, cuase it was right there!

so my question is this: what can i possibly do to become lucid here?
-any techniques or tips are helpfull, thanks

You're still in the dream? Right, well I recommend you to look at your hands, that'll prove you're still dreaming. And if not, just check if the electrical lights are working, that'll help you realize too.

Lol, get used to Reality Checking and just basic awareness.

yes, an RC would done the trick, except i wasnt even able to tell myself to do one. how then would i be able to teach myself how to do reality checks?

It's been a while for me.
If you are aware you are dreaming (in a non-lucid way) e.g. you can see that you are sitting with your parents in a room, then you have to concentrate real hard and still in a non-lucid way test things out. For an example you can try and speak to your parents and ask them something or look around the room. Is it a familiar room or not? do you know where you are? Is something there that shouldnt be?

Once you have kind of got a hint that you might not actually be concious test further and in bigger ways, once you have done that it's easier to control dreams.

Just be observant and think logically.

I have this same problem too. You really have to mean it when you tell youself "I will realize I'm dreaming..." Try picturing what its like to become lucid while you say the words, don't just repeat them. You have to really understand them. Don't just say the words in an empty way.
