Had a lucid dream, but lost it!

I am so happy:), because with hardly a week's effort, I was able to LD. I did nothing extraordinary or difficult, didn't follow any particular method. Just tried to be aware while falling asleep, and reminding myself with the mantra: I am dreaming.

Doing this, I was in a dream, and something told me it was a dream. So I immediately looked at my hands (as reality check), and they had disappeared! I knew it was a dream:) and tried to move my body, tried to float. But the dream dissipated, and I drifted into sleep.:?

What do I do now? I don;t want to become disappointed again. There must be some way to prolong the dream, and do stuff like flying and the rest.

What I did in my LD about 2 weeks ago was rub my hands together. I find this stabilizes the dream better than anything else. I also recommend that you not dream spin. I'm pretty sure I've done this, and the dream ended for me. I thing the only time you should spin is if you want to change the scene.

I would probably agree with Snowy Egypt.

Hand rubbing is the most reliable. Some find dream spinning effective.

Try them in that order, to see if they work for you.

I just had lucid two nights ago and rubbed my hands and spun but they had no effect. now I have always found verbal commands to always work no matter what. but I forgot to try that:P
in fact during that dream I was at this house and said out loud "Robot Guard" and instantly one appeared by the front door. but somehow I forgot to try this while spinning and hand rubbing
