It's best to do an RC if you see something that makes you think you might be dreaming. If you see any sort of dream sign or anything that just seems plain out of place, do an RC.

doing reality checks whenever something that happens a lot (in dreams AND in real life) happens is the key to RCing in a dream. for instance, an extreme is to do a RC every time you start walking somewhere or everytime you move.(becuase most likely, you WILL move or walk in a dream) after you do RCs like that for a while, you will do a RC in your dream when you get up and walk somewhere, and realize you're dreaming!! lol hope i could help

I tried RCing through the day every 15 mins for a few days and to no result.
I found looking at your hand before bed very focussed and in wake ups was the key.
Worked for me and saved me going crazy doing RC's all through the day.

Doing RCs like this seems pretty redundant. If you think that you might be dreaming then you are dreaming; no RC required. I mean, who thinks that they might be dreaming only to do an RC and find that they are dealing with reality?

The point is not knowing when you are awake.

When you are in a dream, and you see something that makes you think you might be dreaming. That is when you need an RC to know it.

Doing it in waking life is just to make it a habit, doing it in a dream is when the real stuff happens. But questioning reality should be good. I mean, what if this is actually a dream? Just a really, really vivid one? Then I wouldn't want to miss that, because I'm so sure that I'm not dreaming, that I won't do an RC...

I do it all the time. but most of the time i figure out pretty fast i'm not dreaming. I mean, in a dream, would your friends really say- um, no, of course your not dreaming?
