Is what I'm doing WILD?
I have been using a 'new' way to have LDs and that is by letting the mind create anything it wants like a randome daydream. Trick is to have the mind freely daydream about LDing stuff with no forcing. The daydream will become more and more intense as I get nearer to falling asleep and the mind will be fully locked onto it like as though it is actively participating in it. Once that is established it will either create a dream about LDing or an LD itself. A good example is that I daydreamed about startrek related stuff and ended up with the cast from startrek TNG in the first dream.

Hey,
Yeah, what you've described is a variation of WILD. All lucid dreams can be divided into two categories, DILD and WILD. DILD is when you realize you're dreaming in the middle of a normal dream (ND), and WILD is when you go directly from the awake state into a dream with no lapse in consciousness.
Your WILD method sounds pretty interesting though, do you try this right when going to sleep or after 4-6 hours of sleep?

I do it whenever I fall asleep..be it a nap or early in the night(more effective). It's not a fully working tech as yet and it's a mixture of VILD MILD WILD?..:P:? Basically a cocktail I guess. It's the same thing that happens when you lie down and close your eyes. Most likely your mind will be daydreaming about almost anything. It can go from what hapened at work today to what you saw at the movies last week...randome. The idea of this is to let it be randome going with the flow of the daydream you may be in at the time and using items or events that could have told you you were dreaming like in the real world. Like maybe you are daydreaming at the time that you are out having lunch with someone for example. That someone may be anyone your dreaming about don't have to change just that you create the next step that may be related to LDing like your cell phone goes off and the numbers roll like crazy and you realise you are dreaming and you maybe fly around and from experience the minute you do that your logical mind will shut it down and your in another daydream.
Let it happen and try again with this other daydream letting it be randome by itself. After some practise your daydream when you close your eyes will have LDing stuff by itself hopefully if you keep it up which will reach right until you actually dream and you get the LD.

I have to try that. Before I knew about lucid dreams, I tried thinking about whatever I wanted to dream about before I went to sleep with the intention of having that topic be the last thing on my mind as I fell asleep. I had varied success with it, but only tried it a few times.

It takes practise and lots of tweaking about the daydreaming content at the same time not forcing it. The more LDing stuff you put into it the higher the chances of carrying it into the dream. I find it helps if you do some LD activities like RCs not too many just for the record during the day to add day residue for you to 'insert' into the daydream. I had missed an LD this morning where I saw my dreamsign and did a check but it was a new check so din't work in the dream..:(. But it was related to the daydream I was having before I slept. Now it seems I can only induce one and it's randome like sometimes it's the first dream or like this morning the WBTB slot...:P.
