Going numb during SP, need help

This has been driving me nuts for the past few nights. I've trying to go into SP but my body always gets really numb and eventually I just can't take it so I force myself to move. The thing that gets me is when I start feeling all numb it's impossible for me to realize if I'm entering SP(as in my body is going asleep or whatever), or if I'm cutting off circulation and my arm is going numb because of no blood circulation. This morning I tried it a couple again after waking up and each time my arm went completely numb I immediately opened my eyes thinking I'm just blocking the blood flow.

Is there any way to tell the difference at all? When I did actually move my arm again I'm thinking it actually did feel like when you usually are moving a body part after the bloods been blocked out for awhile, as in it was feeling tingly for a bit afterwards. But I'm not putting my arm in any position that's abnormal(in fact it's just laying flat on the matress). Another thing is that it was just the one arm while my other one wasn't going numb at all.

Any advice appreciated.

I guess I forgot to make it clear I know numbness is supposed to happen. My problem though is identifying if it's really from SP or cut off blood circulation.

force yourself to stay still. If your limbs go blue you know you're getting your circulation cut off. If they don't you know it's just sp.

Well, since my hands are under the covers, and it's night, I can't exactly check if they're blue without moving, or opening my eyes, so I can't really see how that's a viable solution =p

I have the same worries , because I can't tell if I’m going to numb or losing my circulation. So , I just WILD in a position where I know it's IMPOSSIBLE to lose circulation.

But , hopefully someone can answer your question. Because I would like to know too :P

I would suggest not even thinking about it. I have only gotten to vibrations of SP a few times, and I'm new too but from what I've read about WILDing, you are not supposed to be thinking that about what you are doing. If you are worried about circulationg being cut off, it's going to be hindering your chances to WILD.

If you do happen to wonder whether or not is numbing from SP, just tell yourself that it is part of the normal onset of SP. Have you ever woken after you have fallen asleep on your arm before? I have a few times... it's not so bad. What's the worst that can happen? Your arm is numb and tingly for a while and then your fine. Hope this helps

Yeah. I second to this. There are actually two variants people usually do....

1. Sleep in position from which you just woke up. {This position is the position where you spent a lot of time in recent period, so at least 90 minutes}. If you dont feel bad about the position as you wake up, there is no reason, why circulation should be cut off in next few minutes.

2. Sleep on your back. There really is not a reason for circulation problems. There could be a counterargument: That you cannot fall asleep while on back. Everything could be used to.. I am an example.

Did you try to listen to some binaurals while falling asleep? They are really a good way, how to concentrate your consciousness while falling asleep. Many sensations take place becouse conciousness observes too much.

first of all just try laying on your back to get into sleep paralysis. in that position you know that it isn't blood flow problems but just sleep paralysis. next, maybe you have a natural advantage in getting into sleep paralysis where it just happens. lastly, when your appendages just go numb try "moving them" in your mind but actually feeling them moving like in real life. by lifting your body out of your physical body you can endure and instant lucid dream.

just keep going...first your body tests itself and then starts to fall asleep...you just got to keep on. your almost there. the numbness is a good sign

I can tell why you feel the numbness in the first place: During REM sleep, the amount of blood that flows TO the brain almost doubles. That's why when we feel SP, we feel numb. Its because we are aware that we are entering the REM state and that some of the blood in our bodies actually migrates to your brain. Thus, I have heard from a lot of people and also feel myself, when I enter SP the parts of the body that feel the numbness or tingle 1st are the feet and hands. Because these are farthest from the heart and the brain.

But i do agree its really difficult to overcome this because it can be extremely uncomfortable.

same thing happened to me last night. it was the farthest ive gotten for trying to get SP. after an hour of lying flat on my back i noticed my legs and hands were going numb. after about 10 minutes of that numbness i gave up. it was fairly easy to move my legs and arms afterwards. I was thrown off by the numb feeling becaues its never happened before. it was almost irratating like u explained. just stick through it and stay focused u can get full SP and get to the transition phase.

i'll be trying this tonight, im hoping to get some good momentum on my progress.
