Hi everyone
I know it is very difficult to have a WILD after going to bed. I would like to know if there is someone who uses to WILD or just WILDed during this time. How difficult is it? is there any advice to do this?

Hi everyone
I know it is very difficult to have a WILD after going to bed. I would like to know if there is someone who uses to WILD or just WILDed during this time. How difficult is it? is there any advice to do this?
It's hard for some, easy for others. It depends on the individual, as I shall explain.
If you have issues with WILD because you fall asleep to easily when using conventional (WBTB) methods (and due to scheduling conflicts you cannot make your WBTB longer), then WILDing at the beginning of the night is a viable option. The trouble with WILDing at the start of the night is that it takes longer to get into REM, so if you have trouble falling asleep (or falling back asleep), WILDing at the beginning of the night is not preferable (because your mind is most wakeful at the very beginning of a night's sleep).
. . . I think I may have misread you.
"I know it is very difficult to have a WILD after going to bed."
vs.
"I know it is very difficult to have a WILD right after going to bed."
The second (how I read it, and based my reply) is consistent with your title... If you meant the first one (as in, "it is hard to WILD after getting several hours of sleep"), then I'd tell you that it is quite easier to WILD after getting 5+ hours of sleep! It's recommended!
At any rate, the payoff is higher if you WILD after sleeping for a while. During your first sleep cycle (at the beginning of the night), you get less than 15 REM minutes. During your last sleep cycle, you could get up to an entire hour in REM! Depending on how long you sleep, of course.
WILDing at the beginning of the night when you first go to sleep?
I've done it and heard of others doing it too. I don't know of anyone who does it reliably. I don't know the reasons for it when it happens to me, but I'm guessing that it's due to an interrupted sleep cycle because of sleep deprivation or naps. If you want to do this consistently, I would suggest prepping with sleep dep.
eh. last night i was very tired before falling asleep and i wild'd but it was only my first try at wild'ing so ill see if it works tonight
I tried this during my 1st attempt. Not a good Idea.
Having read numerous threads on the same, it seems that theres a good chance of inducing sleep paralysis, but that doesn't mean you will dream.
You need the londer rem stages which take place after 4 to 5 hours sleep.
In my own case, I did feel my body doing some strange things,
but I ended up staring into nothing.
For 5 hours! (Didn't seem as long at the time though).
:uhm: were you tired enough?
I was thinking this days about the fact when I'm reading a book, before going to sleep. There's a moment when I can't hold it for more time and I let it fall or just hold it there without reading at all, feeling very sleepy. I think there could be a posibility if I let it there without moving in stead of turning off the lights and set more confortable for sleeping. It's just an experiment to see what happens.
It sounds a little bit harmful for the book, but... I would like to give it a try.
I'm not looking for a long WILD session at the beginning, of course, due to the short REM stage. But I think it would be great to start the night that way.
I think I know what you mean Box77 - I get this all the time when I'm reading, watching TV or whatever - that point when you're so tired you can feel yourself falling asleep and you're conscious for the transition. I don't know but when this happens to me I feel it's so possible to slip into a lucid dream (dependant on whether a dream happens to form).
Most of the guidance says WILD after 4 or 5 hours because its easier.
How ever two nights this week I've gone to bed very tired, and woken up
at 12.30 (after an hour, or an hour and a half) remembering a quite vivid dream.
This however is highly unusual.
So short answer would be try it and see.
At the very least its a good chance to practice getting into SP without worrying about
the dreaming bit.
That said, I lost 5 hours trying my 1st failed WILD.
I regularly wake up after an hours sleep and remember a long vivid dream.
I try almost 2 nights a week to get into a SP from the get go.. no such luck for me.
