I have done a WBTB WILD before, but how can I do one in an afternoon nap? Any advice? I would like to try this over Christmas Break.
I have great success with afternoon nap WILDS. I think the trickiest part is actually falling asleep deeply enough to dream. I get HI and light (NREM?) dreams easily, but sometimes have a hard time entering into a full dream. Maybe make sure you don't get too much sleep the night before, so you are a little sleep deprived.
Let us know how it goes :)
So I just lie down and nap, but stay conscious?
From what I understand, you need to trick your body into "thinking" you've fallen asleep. You may enter a period of SP, and will be conscious the entire time. Then, again from what I understand, you can enter a dream and gain lucidity...all without having actually fell asleep!
Yep, it sure sounds easy, doesn't it? To start with, try just watching your thoughts as you fall asleep. Let yourself fall asleep, but watch what happens to your consciousness as you do so. Once you have a feeling for how you fall asleep, you can better figure out a way to hold yourself right on the edge.
I know how to WILD in a WBTB. Don't go all "cocky noob" on me. I just wanted to know if it was easier than a WBTB WILD.
I've had no luck whatsoever with a'noon nap LD. Possibly because I've been taking a'noon power naps for years now and all that ever happens is I go completely unconscious for approx 10-15 minutes with no dreams whatsoever. I wake up incredibly refreshed and revived from these but without ever having had a LD.
By all means give it a go because who knows it might work brilliantly for you. But IMO the best time to WILD is early morning so if you don't have any luck within a couple of weeks I'd go back to focusing on WILD at that time.
Best of luck!
For me, falling asleep during a nap is way different than falling asleep at night. If I try to apply the same WILD tricks to naps as I do to WBTB, I will fail. I'm just suggesting you get familiar with how difficult or easy it is for you to fall asleep during a nap before you jump in and try a WILD.
All right. Got it. I will make another thread when I am ready.
Naps are the main source of WILDs for me!
What is your technique? Link me a tut.
I use the twin bodies method. I dont know were a tut is.. Try google!
This? Copied from a blog:
Step 1.) Focus on your body and what you feel.
Step 2.) Continue Step 1. At some point you should feel weird distortions or vibrations of your body, which happen on the brink of dream sleep.
Step 3.) Finally, after a while, you (now in your dream body) can leave your now-asleep physical body and explore or change your dream world.
The two body technique is described in EWLD. Perhaps it's on the lucidity institute's website? :)
Alright. I bough that on Amazon. It was supposed to arrive today, actually.
Like magical mike, naps are the main source of WILDs for me.
I always take naps at my desk with some noise.
I didn't focus on anything. Just let my mind wandering, after awhile I saw my pants and shoes I wore that day as if I looked through the desk.(some kind of FA I believe)
Maybe you can try to take naps at your desk
I nap only on weekends, thank you very much.
