When attempting to WILD what are your opinions on turning music on quietly during the process?
hey there.
music could be used as an anchor for WILDing.
but in my opinion music is likely to be too strong an anchor and you won't get to sleep.
i personally can't get to sleep at all if i'm listening to music because i'm thinking about it and analysing it etc.
so sure, you can use music if you can find a volume where it doesn't capture your attention unless you focus on it.
Yea, I have found it helps me personally, if its at the right volume. I usually fall asleep to music on most night so thats probably a reason it helps.
I listened to the Subliminal Lucid 2.0 MP4 by ninja before and during I slept.
I had four vivid dreams even though I never went lucid (I usually remember only one dream). The most enjoyable one was watching a beautiful fiery red sky.
I'm going to try it again.
If I did this it would have to be purely instrumental so it would be less distracting. Perhaps Vivaldi or Apocalyptica or something.
I am a trumpet player, and what I found that works the best for me is soft lyrical trumpet playing.
Something more mainstream that helps me is most of the By The Way album from RHCP
As a music maniac some time ago I used to listen to music while getting asleep. I found "relaxing" (recorded in that purpose) music the most distracting along with any noisy and ritmically messy stuff. Perhaps because usually the first is musically a pure crap. Interestingly even rock music was OK when I liked it (obvious) and the rhytm was atmospheric, monotonous and repetitive. Example - "Joy Division - Closer" "Fields of the Nephilim - Elysium". Nevertheless the ones I can recommend are more calm:
- Brian Eno & Michael Brook - Hybrid
- Pieter Nooten & Michael Brook - Sleeps with the fishes
- Cocteau Twins - Victorialand
I remember about twice that while sinking into a sleep I could hear the music turned off. My hear sense stopped working at that point. Noticing it always brought me back to normal. My hear was back to work and music turned on. This break lasted about a sec.
At that time I did not know about WILDing:(
