RCs to induce DILD

Alright, I understand the concept of performing RCs during the day to hopefully perform them during a dream, with the hopes that they will induce a LD. The RCs I like best are: trying to breathe through a pinched nose, finger into palm, and checking the time.

As I understand it, it's important to perform more than one kind of RC, just in case one fails in a dream. That way the other(s) will hopefully not. My question is specifically about the time checking RC. In a dream, it's said that if you look at a clock or your watch, and then look back, the time will be different. This is supposed to be due to our subconscious short-term memory not being so good or something like that. (This is also supposed to be true for reading text and then re-reading it)

But what good is it going to be if your short term memory is poor, and you look at the time and it's different than 10 seconds earlier? Won't you simply forget what the previous time was and the RC will fail anyway? How is the time checking RC supposed to help you in aiding a LD?

I think I kind of have a semi-sort of-answer to this. I hope it makes sense to you, cause it doesn't to me. :P

I think the trick with the clock RC is for it to just click, even if the dreamer's memory in a dream is poor. When awake, you know what the RC is being used for. This knowledge is suppose to carry over into our dreams. This applies to all RCs.

For example, the finger/palm RC; you put a few fingers through the center of your palm. Unless you're a ghost, your fingers won't go through your palm in real life. In a dream, that logic is turned off. The usual result is that your fingers DO go through. Since you know that something like that can't and didn't happen in real life, the only thing to conclude is that it's a dream.

With the Clock RC, it's similar. There's just NO way, especially with an analog clock if you're daring enough to use it, that time can go ahead...10 hours or so within a 5 -10 second period, which is probably how long the average clock RC lasts. You can jump to 1 or 2 conclusions; 1, your clock needs to be fixed (and that falls into another RC category altogether), or 2, you're dreaming. That's why I feel if I were to ever get Lucid from a clock RC, I'd do a physical one just in case.

I've actually gotten Lucid from changing text, though. It was an accident, and I hadn't even been RCing in real life, but the second I looked back it, the words were different, and I knew I was dreaming. That's the thing with our minds in a dream. It's like there's apart of us that's Lucid already, and is ready to jump in and aid us in a heartbeat if we start to realize something's off.

Sorry if I'm talking to you like you're a newbie or something. I was just using the finger/palm RC to try and clarify my answer.

Yeah, after re-reading, it doesn't make sense to me that much. :D
