During WILD Transition..

Ok so when I WILD lately, (been trying to WILD without sleeping first), it seems its the same as when I sleep first except that when I feel like I'm being "pulled in" I just stay in that state, my mind doesn't sink into a dream etc.

Now, when I feel like I'm being "pulled in", (when I haven't slept first) I'm always thinking about what I should be thinking about (that sounded weird..)

I've tried the following (they don't work very well.. Actually, they just don't work at all)
I feel like I need to focus on something, anything at all. I don't think I could un-focus myself.
- Focusing on what my paralysis feels like (numbness, waves, heavy, etc)
- Focusing on the sound of silence (sounds like faint beeping, strangely..)
- Focusing on where I actually am (telling myself that I'm laying in bed feels really weird)

I'm not sure if anyone can understand the situation I'm trying to describe, but basically I'm asking anyone who WILDs without sleeping first what they concentrate on when this happens. Do I pretend its not happening? Do I have to train myself to ignore it?

If get you right you have problem with getting deeper, making next next into a dream.

I have the same problem. Actually I wasted years not trying different approach. Anyway...
I assume you have no problems with staying focused for long time without getting asleep. Basically you have to kinda loose your mind. Making getting asleep more natural. I found the following making more sleepy thus making sinking into a dream easier:
- WILD after 4-5 hours of sleep
- lay on your side instead of back
- use supplements like Melatonin with/or L-Theanine. They are natural and no addictive. No side effects. If this works bad for your REM quality you may use them it with Galantamine + Choline. Before trying read some post about G+Ch and also mine about taking all this stuff together

One of above may work or combination of all. Remember to not to get to dependent on supplements;)

Yeah I don't really find supplements too appealing, I've never used them and don't plan on it.

I'll try laying on my side vs on my back (I'm actually always on my back when I try)

Actually I forgot that some people find fourth option comfortable - lying on stomack. I've never used it for WILD. When for ND I put my pillow under my left arm to supress the pressure on my heart.
I assume you are familiar with WBTB.
When laying on side you are more likely to sink into a dream but there is much greater chance of loosing consciousness. Thus it should suit you.

Really? that's the most common position I sleep in (on my stomach). Anyway, out of my two WILDs, both were on my back, but I hope you find luck trying it on your side. In fact, I'll try this too. After those first two WILDs, I've just been getting stuck in the same state you get stuck in.

As the matter of fact all newborn babies in hospitals lay on their stomack as this is the most natural and safe for them;)
As to being got stuck - it is a good reason to try different approach. Trying the same for in hope of the success did not work for me.
Last night I had two short LD's laying on side...

I tried laying on my side twice now (without sleeping first) and both times I got to the state where I saw actual visuals (when the object looks like its really there). Sleeping on my side is uncomfortable some times (sometimes leg cramps during sp) but it seems I can more easily slip into a dream-like state. Thanks for your suggestion it worked.

I found also a position - kind of transition between back and side. Let say this a left one ( you are directed left ) : laying on back you have right leg straight while left bent, head directed left/up. To unable it you push your bed cover under your right side all the way up - down.
I found it having some advantages of back and side ones. It's easier to sink into a dream while being more focused. On the other hand I never tried for WILDing and only recently it came back to my attention.
Try WILDing after 4-5 hours of sleep. It's much easier. Bear in mind staying awaken time factor. If you go back to sleep instantly and loose your consciusness too easily then try to stay awaken longer 15-30min.

My first WILD was on my stomach. Which kind of helped because I thought I was sitting up in bed but realised that my spine was bending the wrong way!

Lots of lucids the same way after WBTB.
Does leave lots of drool on the sheets though.

WILD without sleeping first is usually not recommended, because you'll have to pass first through the dreamless stages of sleep, before the REM stage that occurs after 1h... So I think it's normal that you're not pulled in any dream, you just stay in the deep sleep stage.

Maybe you could get inspiration from meditation techniques and focus all your attention to your breathing (just feel the air enter and exit your nose, and don't think about anything else).

Well, I would not make any iron rules about REM reoccurring time after WBTB. It depends on people. I found on the web that the time for WBTB which works for some perfectly works from 15min-1h. Besides recently while WBTB I went straight back to WILD with no wake up time. After about 5-10min I was drifting above my body:) I agree though that usually it takes quite a time to catch a dream.

Well, I don't mind lying there for 2 hours. Its calming.

I always have to sleep on my stomach. and It's real hard for me to wild without sleeping first because it takes longer and the sp is more intense.
