Powerless Dreams?

I have been able to recall my dreams with astounding detail, each day I remember more and more about the dreams I have had, I started just a few days ago after finding this website.

Now that my dream recall is very functional, I remember that whilst I dream I am seeing everything with full clarity.

My problem lies with becoming conscious in my dreams, the thing is I have this sort of "bystander" consciousness, I am thinking about things while I am dreaming, but I cannot readily influence the dream, or my actions in the dream.

It is as if I am just watching the dream, experiencing it yes, and viewing it through my own two eyes, but not able to influence it at all.

I wonder if this is how everyone feels when they are dreaming, but not conscious?

I am still trying to do key things that might help me be able to shout "This is a Dream!!!!" and take over this host of a body.

Hmm, so u realize ur dreaming but cant really influence it? I don't have this problem, Im usally very in contrl of my actions, even in non lucid dreams... but Im sure theres one dream where this happened, cant remember it though...

Do you remember your thought process during the dream? Emotions and false rationale? This is a key part of building your awareness in the dream. Also, be aware of these same things in real life, as well. Keep track of your emotions and why you feel them. If your explanation seems wrong, go through the logic. You might be dreaming.

True first person comes in when you do get lucid. If it feels like your dreams are a movie, then watch that movie with a critical eye (have you ever seen a horror film, and thought "Why didn't she escape through the window?" or "There's a phone next to him. Why doesn't he call 9-1-1?").

I think I know what you mean. I'm at that point right now.
I think about stuff, control my actions, but don't break dream laws or become lucid :O

My recall is very functional too :P

I wish I could recall like you (even if I don't do that bad of a job... I was really good last night but still need to improve....:fly:

I found out that I have a weird way of remembering my dreams... I sleep for about 8 hours, get woken up, and go back to sleep for about an hour, and I have around 3 dreams within that hour.

I wonder if I actually had those 3 dreams that hour, or I just remember the ones I had during my 8 hour sleep?

Either way, my dream recall becomes so realistic. I close my eyes after waking up, and I can clearly see all the details of my dream.

Most likely, you are remembering the last dreams you had in that hour before waking. Though I have, on a few occasions, remembered dreams that were hours apart. Like I wake up early in the night from a dream, and then again in the morning, and I can remember both dreams. I don't DJ, so this was mental memory. Rare, but not impossible.

Same here... As long as I woke up after the dream, I remember it when I wake up in the morning. But I do keep a DJ... However, I write in it sometimes in the afternoon and I still remember everything, but that's only if I spend like 20 minutes in my bed trying to remember everything, and I'm always missing some parts...

Ah thanks guys for clearing this up, because I had big doubts when it came down to having another set of dreams in just one hour.

Makes more sense this way, although still possible the other way.

I found out that if you nap whenever your body is begging for sleep (for me around 7 pm, I take a 15 minute to 1 hour nap and feel amazing), and then when I go to sleep at around midnight, I wake up and I felt like I had an extreme second wind experience whilst sleeping.

Never hurts to try it out for yourselves.
