Water intoxication. Read all about it here
What's wrong with setting your alarm?
At any rate, somewhere between 500ml and a litre, soon before bed should work ! You certainly don't need to drink yourself stupid !
Water intoxication... Eh. I've heard of only one case where it killed, but she was holding it in for a contest. If you go when your body tells you to, you'll be fine.
I usually drink 16 oz. before bed, up to 32 oz. (if I ate a lot of salty foods). That usually wakes me at 4:00. In case I don't wake, I have a soft phone alarm.
EDIT: I agree with Dreamchaser on the bloating thing. Don't overfill yourself!
Uhhmm, that was what you'd call deadpanning.
You should read that article, because if you had you'd know that holding it in versus going to the bathroom has nothing to do with anything. She is definitely not the only person to die from it. If she was, nurses wouldn't have been calling into the radio station warning the DJs that what they were doing could be lethal, and telling them exactly what it was and what treatment was necessary to prevent death. Plus, there's an even more famous case where a frat boy died that way during a hazing incident. Anyhow, both of them ingested multiple gallons at a rapid rate so yeah, deadpan.
Side note: that lady won Justin Timberlake tickets (she didn't die 'til she got home). I wonder if any of her 3 kids went...
Usually I drink 48 oz of water before bed, I drink coffee and water all day so I can handle more than the average person. I wake up anywhere from 3:30 am to 5 am and then go use the restroom, lay back in bed and then go into sleep paralysis.
It is up to you how much you're comfortable with, usually anything over 20 oz works for me. Depends on your digestive system and how big your bladder is.
Water Intoxication is serious. Doing anything out of moderation is usually dangerous and/or stupid.
How much water depends on what else you are consuming, the size of your bladder, etc. etc. etc. Just keep drinking a glass or so then add or subtract as you see fit.
Thanks...for the facts. I've already known about water intoxication for a while.
I woke up yesterday at 4:00 A.M. needing to urinate.
