whats the BrainWave Generator, is it a tecnique, or a machine thing

it's a program that you run on your computer and put headphones on with. the idea is to take the frequency of your brainwaves down to the sleeping level then have little spikes whereyou raise the awareness level. i had my first 2 lucid dreams in 1.5 years with it, definately worth a try(i need to fix my signature to say 3 lucid dreams)

I tried using it, I couldn't sleep with it. There's a tutorial in the tutorials section about how to use it.
I found that I couldn't sleep for hours first night, I haven't tried it to sleep with since. It may have been the headphones being uncomfortable. I find some of the builtin presets are quite good for using with relaxation techniques, and they might be useful for inducing a WILD.
Just to build on what DayTripper said, it's a computer program which plays sounds of certain frequencies (A different one in each ear). The idea is that your brain will try and copy the frequency, there's been a lot of research into this relatively recently. Unfortunately, humans can't hear sounds of frequencies low enough to be similar ones to brainwaves, so this is why it's a different sound in each ear. Your brain perceives the sounds as a frequency which is the difference between the frequency of the sound in each ear. For instance, if a sound witht eh frequency of 400 Hz was played in one ear, and 410 Hz in the other, your brain would perceive it as 10 Hz.
The program lets you make your own patterns of frequencies, so you could have a sound that lasts for 30minutes, going down from 20Hz, to 10Hz. Hopefulyl, the brain would then copy it and go to that frequency.
A lot of that probably doesn't make sense, but hopefully some of it does. :?

I like to use brainwave generator in another manner to help induce lucid dreams.
During the day when you have an hour to kill, put on one of the deep meditation presets. When you are fully relaxed, kepp saying to yourself over and over: "Tonight when I a dreaming, I will know it is a dream"
It is a type of autosuggestion. Some have had good luck with it.
