Felt the vibrations but nothing after that.

Hey guys I just tried the WILD technique again.. I got a bit more progress than any time in the past.

I counted my breaths one im dreaming, two im dreaming and so on. At around 100 I began getting hypnogogic hallucinations and then at around 150 my arms began vibrating very much, it felt as if they were tensing a bit too, I tried to relax as much as possible and just visualise a door or myself pulling myself out from my sleep body but nothing worked I just saw blackness.

No other parts of my body were vibrating much like my arms...Although I did feel as if I was kind of sinking into my bed at some points.

Why could I not enter a dream? I stopped counting my breaths at around 150 because I was getting the vibrations, was this wrong?

Did you do a reality check? The two wild's I had were false awakenings. You could aslo try painting your dream scene.

Nah I'm sure it wasn't a false awakening, I was conscious the whole time and consciouslly decided to stop trying to become lucid. I was just feeling constant vibrations but nothing else was happening, then I got a huge itch at the back of my thigh so I broke SP and scratched.

im at almost the same stage as you are but i found that music helped me get a little farther to where i could almost feel my dream body floating above my real body, i dont know if you've tried this or if it'll work for you but, it helped me. painting sounds like an interesting visualization tool, ill try it tonight.

You were too awake. You need to actually fall asleep. You can trick your body into thinking you are asleep but your mind actually needs to be asleep for a dream to take place. Be more tired next time.

Alright thanks, it's funny you know because for the past week or so that I've been trying to WILD I've fallen straight asleep after waking up and reading the forums for 20 mins, then trying to go back to sleep to attempt the WILD but last night I drank a few sips of orange juice in the morning and that kept me fast awake. ;) Ah well I guess I just need to find a good medium.

This is most likely where you went wrong. If you feel a huge itch that has no source, it usually means you're about to transition into sleep. If you can ignore it and pretend you already are asleep without losing consciousness, this is when you most likely will begin to WILD.

Ah bugger heh.. Yeah A nice little itch formed at the back of my left thigh.. I was quite fustrated at the time so I thought I'm just gonna break SP and scratch it. Ah well I will try again tomorrow morning.

Just wondering, can you WILD when you just get into bed or is it more advisable to sleep for a bit and then wake up with the intention to WILD? The reason I ask is because I'm trying to figure out the best method to become lucid and I can't do WBTB.

Well it is possible to WILD straight from the start of sleep. However, its highly unlikely and much more difficult since the brain isn't anywhere near a REM cycle. With a WBTB you have a WAY better chance. That would be your best shot.
