I have a few questions about brainwave entrainment while WILDing:
Will it make it easier, harder or have no effect at achieving a WILD?
Does it have the potential to damage the WILD quality or length?
Will you hear the sounds in your LD?

Not tried it yet with a full WILD attempt - I think it would be distracting. I meditate to Theta, Gamma and lambda - normally for 30 minutes a day -and get HH after about 20 minutes so im sure its possible if you keep going.
I like Jeffery Thompson's stuff personally. Delta is good for deep sleep. Theta is good for dreaming, gamma and alpha for meditation
I have a copy of his alpha/theta suite. These 2 20 minute tracks are designed to keep you borderline between the two states. One sounds like a thunderstorm the other like a running river.
I have a sleepsonic pillow (has stero speakers built in to the pillow which is WAY more comfortable than trying to sleep with headphones or buds). I have a ipod playlist which starts with Delta tracks to get me to sleep - then theta for an hour or two - then repeated alpha/theta tracks.
I do hear them in my sleep. The first night I tried it I had odd dreams. In my dream the sky was blue and clear but we kept hearing thunder, I was asked by this woman to get a metal ladder off her roof because she thought ligtening would strike it and cause a fire! The thunder was of course the alpha/theta suite playing. Im hoping with a little repeated use I willl know I am dreaming when I hear thunder...
A lot of people say it's great, that helped them at both WILD's and AP's. The Monroe Institute made a lot of money selling brainwaves, they couldn't have done that for so long unless someone was pleased with the results.Quote:

There's no way to predict what your outcome would be. But maybe you should first do as much as you possibly can without it, and then decide if you're satisfied with what you achieved from your own abilities.
Can you tell me more of lambda waves? Normally we use alpha, beta, delta and theta, sometimes gamma. Can you tell me about its function in meditation? And gamma's too.Quote:

I tried it today, and had a short WILD. Yes, it made it easier to achieve a WILD, but it wasn't as vivid as my other WILDs.Quote:

I have only used the Lambda recording so far - about three times. Once with good Bose around ear earphones - and twice on my stereo.
There is a surprising amount of bass in the recordings. I have had the best results by playing the CD on my Stereo loudly and sitting directly between the speakers. My stereo is a very good system - I have 2 paradigm speaker towers that cost 2000$ each and a really good amp and CD player that cost another 2500$. The bass is so amazing on the recordings that it seems to make the whole house buzz and shake.
After about 15-20 minutes of meditating the music and bass swells and you do hit a kind of bliss like state - its very odd. When you finish meditating it takes a while to return to normal. So far I think Lambda is deeply cool.
I ripped the CD for my Ipod also - using Apples "lossless" setting. I read online that you have to use "lossless" for Thompson's work or some of the frequencies are lost - although I suspect this might be BS intended to make people buy the CD's.
I havent tried using Lambda yet in a WILD or DILD attempt. I also havent tried Epsilon yet. Disk 4 of the PSI set is supposedly for LD and AP - I also havent tried this yet.
So far I have had the best results with Theta/Alpha tracks where the binauraul beats are combined with nataural sounds rather than music. I have some of Thompsons's Theta/Alpha recordings of ocean waves, thunder storms, rain, running rivers, etc. These seem to get incorporated into my dreams - with repeated use Im sure they can become an external "dream signs".
I have only been using these recordings for use when sleeping a short time and am still experimenting. So far I have found that Delta is really good at getting me to sleep quickly - and I do seem to dream more if I introduce theta after 4.5 hours.
I mostly use Binuaral Beats for meditating. Normally for 30 minute sessions. I find that I get HH with Theta and gamma after 20 minutes, with Gamma I find also that I reach a state where I forget to breath! I suddenly realise that I havent btaken a breath for a long time and need air quite badly!! I found this disturbing at first but then read on a meditation forum that this is quite a deep trance and quite cool to acheive.
I have plans this weekend for some WILD attempts - and will probably stick to alpha/theta nature sounds for these. I might have some oppotunity to try a DILD from a nap on Sunday or Monday - if so I might try napping to either the LD/AP track from the PSI suite or Lambda.

I have read some more on the subject with brain waves and meditation, the gamma and lambda waves have mostly only been observed in tibetan monks doing deep meditation. The meditation progress goes something like this, roughly.
Alpha, Theta, Delta and Gamma.

Are you familiar with I-doser? They do binaural beats too, they do all sorts of things. They have made theta, delta and gamma binaural beats, and a mp3 file with all of them in one, so you can stop at the moment when the effect kicks in.
I think I will try them out, and see if it works during meditation. I haven't really meditated before, but a month ago I sat in my living room, about to do some homework. The sun was shining right at me through the blinds. I closed my eyes and tried to meditate. After 5 minutes I felt I was about to fall asleep, my whole vision got white and I entered some kind of blissful state. It was a nice experience, so I hope to do it again sometimes soon.
I've experimented with binaural beats for about a year and a half. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. I wouldn't say it makes it harder to WILD though in any case.
For me, I can't hear the sounds after I've entered the dream. Things do get freaky though as I'm transitioning from awake to asleep. The beats all run together into a high-pitched tone like you hear when you say "your ears are ringing." This is accompanied by the standard feeling of surges of energy in my body and powerful vibrations.
Over time, I think it's gotten less effective for me. Now I'm finding it hard to WILD no matter what I do. IDK why. But brainwave entrainment has been helpful for me in the past.
