Extremely fast heartbeat during hypnagogic hallucinations

Hey everyone,

After smoking some marijuana, I felt tired - naturally - and wanted to sleep.
I felt fearless at the time, and began my first WILD.
I stayed still for what could have been 5 mins, and the hypnagogic imagery started (it was stunning). My heart was beating like a jackhammer. I suffer from Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and sometimes get panick attacks after smoking weed.

But anyway, do any of you have a blistering fast heartbeat when attempting a WILD? The patterns were beating in sequence with my heartbeat - almost like a techno song.

It felt exactly like a panic attack. My heart was beating extremely fast, thought I was going to have a heart attack, and opened my eyes.

Any of you experienced this?

Hey reality and :welcome: to Dream Views. :) I have been WILD'ing for quite a while and let me tell you...my heartbeat accelerates nearly every time I begin entering SP. Usually my body will become very heavy and then my heartbeat will begin to escalate until the transition crenscendo's and I'm in a WILD. It's important to note that this is NOT your real heartbeat escalating, it simply isn't. My heart has pounded right out of my chest on several occasions. There's some belief that this is the heart chakra that goes into a frenzy during this time but that's another topic in itself. The reason why I say this is not your real heart is because your heart does not speed up immensely right before you go to sleep seeing as it happens (sleep) every night. Now if your heartbeat is legitimately escalating then that's probably due to excitement (but I don't think you were talking about that). Hope this helps.

I want to add: Whenever I smoke pot, my heartbeat increases from itself. I had some of my friends check my heartbeat and even they said it was fast.

But indeed, while trying WILD your heartbeat seems to increase but it actually isn't ;)

The pounding heart phenomenon is indeed a common symptom of the WILD process. I can certainly understand where it may be alarming, especially if you weren't expecting it, but from all my experience and research it is as harmless as any other symptom. Though I'm not advocating the "energy center" reasoning, there are many who would argue the source of the sensation is not infact your heart.

Take the vibrations for example, another common symptom. While again I'm not necessarily advocating the "energy" theory, the actual cause of the sensation is most likely not a literal buzzing of your flesh and bone. Both of these sensations, and others, can probably be safely disreguarded as a type of hallucination, despite how physically grounded they may seem.

Since you are predisposed to panic attacks, however, your own assessment and judgement of the situation is paramount.

Yeah. First time I tried I felt like my heart would beat out of its chest. XD
It's compleatly normal.

I've never really had a "great WILD" but I've entered SP and I have felt my heart pound faster. Whether it's my real heart or not, I have no idea but it does happen to me as well.
